Visited what I believe is the original Taj Mahal Restaurant in Mangalore. Compared to the newer Taj outlet, this branch feels a bit cramped and busier, especially during breakfast hours. There seems to be an air-conditioned hall, but it was full when we arrived, so we had to settle in the main serving area.
By the time we reached, most of the popular breakfast items were sold out, so we went with the basics â Upma, Plain Dosa, Masala Dosa, and Vada. Everything tasted fine but nothing particularly special. Personally, I prefer the new Taj Mahal outlet, which feels more spacious, has better crowd management, and serves a few exclusive items that stand out.
This outlet still maintains that old-school Mangalore charm, but the crowded atmosphere and limited parking space near Milagres Church make it a bit inconvenient for travellers.
If youâre in or around the railway station or Milagres Church area, this is a decent stop for a quick South Indian breakfast or coffee.
