We stayed in Dutch Bungalow during the New Year time and I would say it was mostly a good experience. ||It's a heritage property with an old world charm. The room was well maintained (though a little small) and comfy with an additional living room attached to it. The bathroom was huge though. There was a common balcony overlooking the pool and a common room (that was huge) with a beautiful swing and a bookshelf full of books. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location, close to many good cafes and restaurants and also at just 5 mins walk away from Fort Kochi Beach. ||The only thing that we did not like much is the food. Breakfast spread was small yet okay, but then it lacked in hygiene. I could see flies on the muffin the 2nd day we went for breakfast. Also, as it was new year time, they had made it mandatory to have gala dinner for the guests. Honestly, this was the most substandard Gala dinner I ever had. The food was almost cold by 8:30pm, the starters did not have any mushroom or paneer or chicken dishes (but fish and beef were there). And one of the staff even argued that since most people in Kerala have beef and also people come to Kerala for seafood, that was justified. The main course was limited and the desert were not at all good except the okayish chocolate cake. Even the passion fruit drink got over, so they served it to one of us and then served something else to the other. This is not expected from a hotel of this category. You could very well charge a little more and make it a better dinner spread. ||So yes, if I ignore the food part, it is a good place to stay in Fort Kochi. And that is why I am giving it 4 instead of 5. I hope they make improvement in the food, because this place truly has the potential to be one of the best...

Earlier this year, my friend and I stayed at the Dutch bungalow en-route to a besties vacation at Kumarakom (also Abad property). We were initially allotted a room that had the roof leaking rain water on one of the beds after some offseason rain, so we called the front desk. We were pushed around for a while and instead of being assigned another room, they suggested they'll move/push the cot/bed to another corner of the room and we should adjust. That annoyed us and after a few angry words, we were allotted a different room. We shouldn't have been forced into such a situation. They don't charge any less for the rooms. Anyway... The second room allotted to us was great! Though on the same floor, the roof was intact and no leakages of any sort in this room. The beds were comfortable, it had a separate office kinda area, so it worked out for us as we were both remotely working before heading to Kumarakom.
The rest of our stay was uneventful. The food was good and service was friendly, the location is super convenient, so we walked around the beautiful Fort Kochi and visited the Chinese fishing nets. Some beautiful murals around the area as well. The lush green natural landscape, old bungalows and old trees around the Dutch Bungalow makes for a cozy visual too. It was raining mostly so we did not use the pool, but the pool area is adorable. We spent a lot of time on the super sturdy indoor swing. There are several cute nooks to read. This is a...
Read moreMy stay at the Dutch Bungalow | Heritage Hotel in Fort Kochi was a pleasant experience overall. The historical charm of the place and its location in the heart of Fort Kochi truly added a special touch to my journey.
One of the things I enjoyed the most was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome, and they were always ready to assist with any questions or needs I had. The hospitality of the staff truly made me feel welcome and comfortable throughout my stay.
The ambiance of the hotel, with its historical architecture and traditional details, created a charming atmosphere. However, upon entering the rooms, I noticed that they could benefit from some improvements. Although they were comfortable, modernizing certain aspects, such as lighting or furniture, could enhance the overall experience and ensure an even more pleasant stay for guests.
Despite this minor inconvenience, the cleanliness of the rooms was impeccable, and the housekeeping service did an excellent job keeping everything in order.
In summary, the Dutch Bungalow | Heritage Hotel is a lovely place with exceptional staff who strive to make guests feel welcome. Although the rooms could benefit from some improvements, the overall experience was positive, and I would recommend this hotel to those looking for a unique stay...
