East Indies — Restaurant in Kerala

Bad experience for me as a French vegetarian. I would not recommend this expensive restaurant supposed to be the best in Fort Cochin. In "Small plates", i took "Crispy potatoes wedges with cheese, tomatoes and curry mayonnaise". It came as wedges potatoes, without mayonnaise, tomatoes were very small pieces isolated around a kind of mountain of potatoes, and cheese was grated, about 10 g , dissiminated scarcely. Roughly i had wedges potatoes for 320 rs. I called for the Chef and made my complaint. He did not look very much concerned. Then i had 2 scoops of ice cream, one of them being full of small ice pieces. I forgot. TV was on all the times, staff was more focused on it that...

The restaurant is small, which could be cosy and intimate if there were some music. Instead, when I visited it was as quiet as a tomb and I could hear the conversation of the only other table in the place - very awkward.

I ordered a Keralan chicken dish, extra spicy. I bit into it and cracked a tooth on a bone. They don’t tell you there’s bones. The spice level was a zero on a scale from 1-10.

The staff were pleasant and attentive - not amazing, but fine.

Monsoo outside than sitting inside the restaurant. Beers helped in setting the mood ! NOTE this my friends- as far as food goes “You’re IN FOR A TREAT” vegetarian or not, Pescatarian or not you’ll love the vibe, you’ll appreciate the service & mostly the FOOD ! Good show ! My compliments to chef VIMAL & NITHIN our server, who made this random visit to their restaurant a memorable one. I wonder if I’m back in kochi again. But if I am- this is one place I’ll be doing two...
