Taking out my time to give this review only to convey my experience during the stay at this hotel, as I sincerely hope to prevent others from being misled by their enhanced images and misleading descriptions of amenities and services.
Our misery started the moment I unfortunately decided to stay here. We were assigned our rooms after a wait of nearly 30 to 40 minutes.
Our group consisted of three families, and one of the rooms allocated had an air conditioning leak. We were assured it would be repaired, but unfortunately, it remained unresolved. After raising our concerns multiple times, they finally agreed to provide us with another room since the AC issue could not be rectified. Consequently, we had to move all our belongings in the middle of the night to a room that was further away that too with an infant & a toddler with us.
Regrettably, when we addressed this with the Front Office Manager, we were informed that we had received a complimentary upgrade!!!! As someone who has traveled extensively and stayed at numerous hotels and resorts, I can attest that merely changing a room and labeling it as an 'upgrade' does not constitute satisfactory customer service.
Additionally, we encountered several other issues, including: Only saltwater was available in the bathrooms, which was not disclosed anywhere. The bed in one of the rooms was in such poor condition that we could not sleep properly. When we requested extra bedding, one of the staff members raised their voice at us. It was evident that we required additional bedding, and they had even confirmed at check-in that there would be no charge. If there were time restrictions, we should have been informed at check-in rather than being shouted at when we requested the promised service. Water bottles were charged at prices exceeding the maximum retail price.
Upon check-out, we were charged exorbitant rates despite the deal promised at check-in. Furthermore, they failed to provide a GST invoice when we requested receipts for our payments. Regrettably, I did not read the reviews and placed my trust in the words of their staff. Unless you wish to jeopardize your holiday or stay, I would strongly advise against choosing this establishment which give zero value to the...
Read moreChanced upon a small hotel on the Internet while searching for it on my kerala visit. The only point caught my eye was LIGHT HOUSE.
The place has I think 12 rooms, a small bungalow converted to a hotel. It has a LIGHT House kind of structure that was used to guide ships in earlier days.
The room I got was sea facing entrance and a big room of colonial style era. The welcome drink in the sweltering Kerala heat was a boon.
On entering the room, we were greeted with swans made of our room towels. pleasing gesture to welcome you in the room.
The room was quite big as compared to normal, which is a colonial past reminder. Neatly furnished. The bathroom fittings were old but I have seen the renovated bathrooms on 1st floor and it was a good upgrade as and when it happens(I am told all of it will take a month as the work is in process)
We had a quiet dinner as we had reached late, is what I thought. Bit it's sort off off season due to summer season and there were only 3 rooms booked and so less crowd or NO crowd in the restaurant.
The kadhai paneer was good and recommended Honey Chilli potatoes were great. My mom enjoyed the Sundown mocktail.
The next morning was event full as mummy wanted to swim in the sea. so we walked to the M G Beach just next to Old LIGHT House Bristow. I was pleasantly surprised as it was a very clean beach with almost only two of us and 2-3 fishermen casting their nets.
From there, we headed back to the hotel and had a dip in the pool. The OLHB provides separate sets of towels for the pool. The pool is surrounded by a lot of trees and so gives a jungle like feeling ;-)😉.
We finished the pool and had a bath and headed for breakfast.
WE WERE LATE FOR BREAKFAST (10.30AM)
But they were linient with us, and we had a breakfast of Dossa and chutti as well as Uttapa, cut fruits, and a glass of milk. All A La Carte.
The front desk manager, "Nevin," recommended us with massage at a nearby Spa, and it was an experience to be had. Got a relaxing massage.
As usual we were late for checkout but here again Nevin allowed a late check out at 2pm as a good will gesture.
The team of Nevin, Amy and Gina really took good care of us at the OLD LIGHT...
Read moreMy mother alongwith her friends visited the property. Checkin experience was fine. As soon as they entered the room, the light was not working. They had to call the electrician to fix the same. I had booked the room for 3 person. Per night tariff was almost 12k with taxes. My mother is a frequent traveller and knows the etiquettes of a good 5 star property. The reason to choose the property was the location and the reviews and when the tariff they are charging so high, the expectation is of good service.
After the light issue was resolved, they again had to call housekeeping for making the room. The answer they got when asked why the room was not made, it was hilarious. As per the staff they make the room only when the guest arrives irrespective of the confirmed booking. Toileteries, Towels, water bottles, etc had to be placed according to the person booked. Again, they were arguing and didn't provide the things.
After settling down they ordered tea. One and a half hours later they left to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. When they enquired about the tea not delivered with waiter, again the answer received was pathetic. The waiter replied, he was not on duty and simply went away.
Next day while cheking out, the lady at the reception requested for feedback. To which my mother gave a verbal feedback and told that rest would be shared online. They didn't even apologize for the incompetent services. Pathetic hospitality, Super arrogant front desk staff and Very...
