I want to share the experience I had during my recent stay in Westin Mumbai Garden City Goregaon . I checked in on Saturday 10th june and check out was for 11th June Sunday

My booking was for one premier room and I reached hotel around 5 pm on 10th June

I requested at reception that if possible give me the smoking room – and they said it will take sometime to a lot the room since hotel is over-booked.

Considering I had reached 2 hours post your normal check-in time ( checkin time is 3 pm ) – and I was tired after a long journey – I mentioned they can give me non-smoking room

Again the person at reception said that will also take sometime ( at least 30 minutes ) – I reconfirmed that do they mean 30 minutes or “at least” 30 minutes and they affirmed .

When I said that why it is the case because initially they said problem is with the smoking room only and why do I need to wait for non-smoking room – there was no explanation

Then after sometime they did gave me a non-smoking room and I confirmed twice that it is the same category room I had booked .

When I entered into the room – I realized it was much smaller room and I could tell it because I had stayed in westin quite a few times recently.

Because I was tired and really frustrated by the whole experience I decided not to go downstairs again and discuss the issue with same staff members who did this knowingly to me.

Overall I have to ask – why would staff members at westing allocate a downgraded a room to a person despite confirming otherwise. This is quite unethical practice. Because I have stayed there before hence I know the difference – what about those people who are staying first time and they would never know about this practice going on

When I complained next day – the facility apologized to me and also told the staff to wave off dinner charges – Please note that I insisted them to keep dinner charges and I was absolutely OK with paying what I consumed. Because

However my whole point was that unethical practice should not be covered up with waving off some dinner charges. This actually ruin entire stay and experience
