Seasonal Tastes — Restaurant in Mumbai

I feel scared to comment specially when I see people love it so much. Apart from the ambience rest is extremely poor i.e, food, service e.t.c. I will explain. I just came back from Buffet Lunch 17-02-2022.

At the Asian food counter When the say Asian food they serve Tom Yum Soup which is no where close to a cheap Thai restaurant soup. Where do you see in Asian Cuisine serving paneer?? Most they do is Tofu. But vegetarian Indians love it. They think Thai cuisine inclides paneer. Green chicken curry - Only the colour matches, nothing else. The Fried rice was Indian Tomato rice. Stir fried fish - Look on the Internet there are so many different types of fish dishes in Asian Cuisine. I don't know where they find this dish.

At the Continental Counter Some cold meat and salami roll with salad. All types of olive oil decorated at the counter. Just a reminder you hardly need a table spoon of that oil. Either management has no clue about Continental food or they are just filling up the gaps.

At the Indian Counter One chicken kabab which is okay. Fish Kasundi - You can find the fish and the kasundi is hopeless. It is no where close to a Bengali Cuisine. Dal - Yellow dal boiled and spices added in appropriately. There is no mutton, no proper vegetarian dish. Only vegetarian is Paneer again.

At the Desert Counter Gulab Jamun - Any road side Gulab Jamun shop is better than this. This type of desert in a Five Star hotel is generally kept in the fridge and fed to customers over and over again unless it is finished.

Some other desert were there which I tried was disgusting.

Lastly, I had some ice tea. So where do you find a Management charging for Ice Tea in a Buffet? Yes at Westin. I complained about the food to the waiter and he brought the chef in front of me. After I explained to her dish by dish and what was wrong her response was that the Lunch Buffet is generally for Office personal who just come in and grab a bite. And in regards to the Ice Tea billing she said it was her Management policy.

I would imagine that in a Property as beautiful in the area, where the Management just wants to push poor food standards and has a mentality like this, how can you expect a house full. Not using a Property like this to it's fullest potential is absolutely criminal.

......and charging for Ice Tea, this is ridiculous. Would advise the Management to go around the town to other Upscale or Fine dining places to see food quality and how the billing is done. I did mention this to the Chef and...

Took a risk after horrible experience at marriot franchise at Goa twice Fingers crossed walked in westin A proper sophisticated warm welcome at the gate with amazing hospitality all over. The stewards were soo helpful and quick even being Sunday brunch. I don’t know why cant other marriot be so humble like Mumbai. There is no point of negative reviews here trust me. Just don’t expect your street style food while walking in loaded with masala and colour ,”it’s a good restaurant you have to respect their sophistication”. They called me twice to confirm too..

Started brunch with salad as I don’t know why I end up on protein and fiber side first You may skip However they had freshest prawns and lovely chicken and lamb salad if you are a foodie you should spoil yourself to one of best salads. Brunches must be having changing menu But soooo many options FroM chat to Asian Also sugarcane juice was there Along with some mocktails &juices They have everything. Even in brunch they don't miss to have presented their food well. With edible flowers. Tbh menu is so vast you can just have taste not eat all. Even chaat was good just tasted it not bland as people have criticised things. Kolkata kosha and sweets omg I am a fan of that However Bengali sweets chenna was not that proper kneaded

Had shish tawook nice not too spiced not less Subtle flavour on palate is what u expect of a good restaurant. Chimichanga good stuffing and appropriate wrap of tortilla Shawarma Pita was authentic unlike pizza base used Authentic I can say with pita pockets Unlike what u find on street with cheese and stuff but my favourite still remains else where Bhori cutlet were subtle again. Tried paneer too good quality or many places it's not that great Had mahi Mussalam as it is supposed to be mussalam means full presented so well on bed of rice mild spicy with hint of saffron. Things look so pretty just feel like admiring them it was so difficult to cut their beautiful cakes. Cherry tart was star for me used currents blackberries and avocado all of premium quality is what you expect. Tarts were so perfectly baked crispy and proper filling of cream with fruits Fell in love with mango Burger bun was nice fresh soft never had such buns except of Jimmy’s but this bun was better. With mutton patty vegan okayish They had sushi’s which were great And presented again well. Dimsum Korean wings and so many variety Along with Kolkata biryani again subtle a 5 star food. Worth every penny. I generally eat outside once a year. Breakfast was good and healthy. Nice spread. But one will have to be very careful (esp. elderly people) not to eat more and must have a control over themselves. The taste is so alluring you can't resist to wait at all. Westin along with other 5 stars such as Lalit, Marriot etc are the only places where you will get genuine Tamilnadu Idlys in mumbai. All other hotels @ Matunga can only use the term authentic having no clue about the vocabulary of the term. In my general consensus - if sumone uses the term autheentic it says by itself rest are not authentic. (Apparently the user is not either). @Westin you get - Genuinely true quality of food and food that are innately enjoyable by the natives of bharat. I won't talk about spread, Ambience etc. Because ambience must be at the core of substance.(ie food offered). At Westin you get the ambience of food at its own nativity. (There are always other google reviewers who can talk about external ambience factors such as mirror, seat arrangement etc - which incidentally has no connection to the maple sauce or the amounts of salt in dosa et all). So in a nutshell the real ambience (core food) is good.

Idly is called real when the batter is fermented. @ Westin it is prepared in the same way. So hats off. True Quality.

Chinese breakfast, Indian, English breakfast, veg and non veg. All live counters - Quality offerings ! One should go to Westin restaurant to broaden their likeness boundary and NOT to make use of complementary breakfast. With such a mindset Westin is a very good place to explore newer and healthier breakfast.
