My partner and I paid for a private room with AC and breakfast included at Blue Eye Hostel. When we were shown our room there was no working AC but as we arrived late (which was communicated to the hostel staff in advance) we decided to not mention it further.||||At 01:30, we received a knock on our door from the hostel owner. When we opened the door he proceeded to aggressively scream at us very loudly which did not stop for about 30 minutes. He had his foot in the room so we could not close the door and was screaming about "how we were taking his power", how "he use to live in Germany and this room was cheap in comparison" (as would be expected in India) and that "this was his hostel so he could do what he wanted". He also repeatedly asked us if we were French stating they "are rude" (although not important, I am in fact English and my partner is Dutch).||||My partner calmly explained to him that the booking states there would be AC, but it is not an issue that there isn't any and that we can discuss this in the morning. Guests from different rooms in the hostel came to check on us as they were concerned about his behaviour. Eventually the owner left, and my partner and I had a very restless night. Additionally, the owner cancelled our booking on booking.com during the night (I assume so we are unable to leave a review!!). We woke up very early and decided to leave. When paying we asked for a written receipt as he cancelled our booking. At this stage, again he started yelling very aggressively. Another female solo traveller from Belgium (who we did not know) was incredibly scared so asked to leave with us, which is when the situation got terrifying. The owner started screaming at the solo female traveller and at one point raised his hand to hit her, which another staff member had to stop him from doing. I caught some (but not the worst of it) on video. I can’t upload these to TripAdvisor unfortunately but have attached some clips. I was about to call the police, at which point he yelled "call the police, they won't listen to you, I'll pay them" - part of this is captured in the second video which I unfortunately can’t upload.||||I was surprised with this experience when the hostel has an 8.9 rating on hostelworld and booking.com. However, when revisiting the reviews, the 3 most recent reviews on booking.com are all from the owner himself with a 10 rating! From the other reviews on booking.com posted only in the last 2 weeks the ratings are often low and there are comments like from Vivek on 24th Feb stating " Horrible owner and not safe".||||As a female traveller, I believe it is important to raise these issues to make sure fellow travellers stay safe.||||In summary DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTEL AND DO NOT TRUST THE REVIEWS. THE OWNER IS...
Read moreI had a very horrible experience in this hostel. I have booked for a double bedded deluxe bedroom and accordingly I have arrived Jaisalmer railway station at midnight. The owner messaged me and said he had arranged a pick up along with two other guests from England. We reached the hostel around 12.30 a.m but the caretaker informed us that we have to stay at dormitories. We refused to take the dorms since we have booked for deluxe room. We wanted to speak to the owner but he kept his phone on silent mode and slept. Aftsr repeatedly knocking at his door he opened his door and started abusing us very badly. When we asked why we have been not provided our booked rooms he rudely said it's his hostel and he will do as he wish. He asked us to leave the hostel at 1.30 a.m at night. We politely asked him why is he behaving to us like this and have we done anything wrong he again started to abuse us in irrelevant issues. He was drunk so his two staff were seemed helpless. After sometime he checked his phone and realised that he misread the booking details and asked us to sleep in his room for the night and leave the hostel early in the morning. We were new to the city and helpless at 2 o clock so decided to stay back despite the humiliation.
Next morning we woke up early and were about to leave then one guy came and introduced himself as 'owner' of the hostel and he apologised for the misbehaviour of his 'manager'. Later we found out that, that guy was pretending to be as 'owner' and he was the manager actually. He did so to cover the misbehaviour of his owner.
I won't recommend this place to my fellow...
Read moreBeware of this hotel and the camel safari they propose, it's a SCAM for tourists. A tout/ conman by the name of Charlie/ Chandra in Hindi starts by approaching tourists as they leave the train/ bus at Jaisalmer and proposes a ride to town, accomodation and a standard camel safari tour for reasonable prices. He took us to the Blue Eye Hostel rooftop to show us the view of Jaisalmer and lure us into the camel safari, which is a complete scam compared to that provided by other agencies. Charlie charges the same as the other agencies but lies regarding the location where he's taking you, where the camel trek lasts significantly less than the 1.5h promised, passing through small dunes of sand, only to take you to a terrible location close to the main road where you spend the night in steel-hard berds, sleeping in dirty sheets, being bothered by the noise and lights of tourist jeeps doing tours around you, being ridiculously close to jaisalmer's city lights and spending a terrible night out in the desert taking loads of sand in the face.
Overall, you pay the price, the tour is a terrible experience and a complete waste of time and the guy called Charlie disappears with your money.
These guys work in network with Hotel Nutella and Namaste Hotel, and keep changing the name of the hotel to avoid bad reviews.
A friend of ours staying in the hotel Nutella also got part of his money...
