Me and my wife visited this property for a 2 night stay in June this year.We had already been to Udaipur few times, but missed staying here so this time we came to complete the experience. We came for a meal and a showround few months back at Lake palace, and Mr Parvinder(gm)and Mr Rahul Mehta had throughly assisted us at that time. This time some summer package offer was going on at IHCL and we booked a palace room for 2 nights at 30k plus taxes per night(pretty low for Lake palace, here even garden rooms touch 80k during winter)which included breakfast plus one major meal, and both way airport transfers. We called Mr Mehta in advance and requested for any upgrade that could be given.||||To our delight and surprise, the management upgraded our room to a Grand Royal Suite called Jal Tarang(each suite has it's unique name). It is a 3 level upgrade as grand royal suites come below the presidential suites and it is a lifetime experience to stay in one of them(they are sheer expensive as well with 130k price going on during the span of our stay). We are much grateful to the management for giving us such a wonderful stay opportunity.||||We were picked up from Udaivilas( where we were initially staying)by the lake palace boat and guided straight to the floating heaven.Mr Harsh, their conceirge manager was waiting for us in the jetty along with other staffs to welcome and receive us.We were welcomed by a Royal Umbrella, given a rose petal shower and also a traditional aarti was done for our well-being in the inside and then we were seated and served welcome drinks.Mr Mehta also came to welcome us who completed the check in formalities for us and we were guided straight to the room.Mr Parvinder was not present in the property so sadly we couldn't meet him. Before venturing in the room,Mr Mehta introduced us to the F and B managers, their deputy housekeeper and other hods who were nice and friendly and greeted us warmly.Mr Harsh was also with us who prepared explained multiple areas of the property before venturing to o||our room. ||||The Jal Tarang Suite-A treat to the eyes,it was an Absolute delight to stay at.Mr Mehta completed the check in formalities quickly and left us alone to enjoy the beauty of the room.Unlike other Royal and Grand Royal suites, this was a bit different.Instead of having big and spacious bedroom and living room,it had a rather smaller bedroom and living room area. But it's features sat it apart which makes it the best room in Lake Palace(even the grand presidential suite didn't have these features).||||Jal Tarang meant staying on the suite will really make you feel you are sitting on water. It had 4 unique areas. One a huge Jacuzzi directly facing the lake, where you can enjoy bathing with your loved one with the serene lake view(it has privacy control blinds which can be switched on and off).Apart from the Jacuzzi, there is a large terrace which starts from the bedroom(covered from above),you can sit and have a meal there(we had twice).Sitting there with water surrounding your all sides, their splashing will give you a feel you are sitting in a literal cruise ship.||THE BEST PART OF THE SUITE WAS A 360 DEGREE SITOUT AREA WITH WINDOW ON ALL SIDES.This was the favourite part of our room and I spent most of our stay time here.It makes you feel you are almost sitting in water.See the pictures for reference.Apart from all this, there is also a small balcony which can be opened and you can stand and enjoy lake view.||||The bedroom had nice premium linen, decorations on walls and gave a regal look despite the space being reduced. The living room had a study table and a large sofa with very soft and comfortable cushions to sit and enjoy. The quality of everything was very premium and nothing was compromised.Even if someone paid the money to stay here,it will be worth it.Apart from the Jacuzzi, there is also a separate shower area.||||After check in,the entire afternoon went by staying in our suite and enjoying the views from it.In the evening,we came out to enjoy the rajasthani cultural dance in the lobby and it was fantastic(these are organised in every hotel in rajasthan but this one was different and unique). We admired it very much(come early as seats get full.||||We visited and sat at the palace entrance for a while to enjoy the soothing sunset views from there.Rain had just stopped and sun was setting and the lights were slowing turning on.It was just like a picture.DO NOT MISS THE SUNSET VIEWS AT ANY COST.||||After the sun was set,we explored the other areas of the property a bit, their Gyan Sagar bar, which had beautiful carvings in the walls and nice SITOUT areas facing the lake where one can sit and enjoy the drinks.||||We also had a sneak peak of their Neel kamal restaurant, which was a fine dining Indian restaurant directly facing the hotels lily pond which served food in Versace plates and 22 carat golden cutlery. They invited us to have dinner there but we pushed it for the other night.||||We also explored their pool area which has an adjoining small spa and gym(not a gym just some treadmills due to lack of space as it's surrounded by water)The pool is nice and there are some jhulas for guests to sit and enjoy. We sat on those and clicked some beautiful pictures of us while enjoying the night views of the lake.||||Please note, the hotel also organises a heritage walk in the evening for detailed information on the history of palace(Lake palace is 278 years old originally a summer palace of the king of Udaipur). We already did that heritage walk few months ago when we came to have a meal,so we skipped it this time.||||Lily Pond-The hotel has a beautiful lily pond with lush green garden in the centre of the property. Its directly located in front of their all day dining Jharokha restaurant.Do stop by this in the morning and evening for some beautiful views and pictures. Its a treat to the eyes, very well maintained and should not be missed. The hotels garden view rooms face this one.||||Jharokha Restaurant-Their all day dining restaurant where we had dinner the first day. This restaurant is surrounded by lake in all sides(has beautiful lake and city palace view)and while you can see the lake by sitting in any table, there are 2 signature spots inside the restaurant which you must grab if empty while dining. In order to do that, you must arrive a little bit early for your meals or they will be preoccupied. There are 2 corner tables located on either sides which gives a 360 degree lake view and somewhat privacy while dining from the rest of the restaurant.||||We were fortunate enough to get that table first night despite arriving late.We were served by a fine gentleman who was very helpful and assisted us at every point(forgot his name). He suggested us various items from the menu and also brought a nice am panna for my wife to enjoy. We took biryanis, some Indian desserts, and few tandoori and kebab starter items. All tasted delicious and it was a nice dining experience. The server also explained us about the history of lake palace while serving which added a nice touch to the ambience. If you have meal in your package, you can go for both buffet and ala carte without any restrictions.||||Yes there is also a buffet which is 2600 plus tax.You can go for that as well. But we preferred ala carte instead.||||After the meal,it was time for bed.We had a sound sleep in our suite. The rain started and continued all night which added an old world charm to an already ancient palace.||||In the morning,we had already pre ordered breakfast in our room. They delivered it in our Terrace area where we sat and enjoyed breakfast with that one of a kind lake views. The breakfast items were fresh and tasty.I also took a bath in their Jacuzzi which was very relaxing and I spent almost 1.5 hours in it as the view was not letting me get up for once.||||The deputy housekeeper came to meet us who was personally present on both days while room cleaning and servicing. He is a nice gentleman who was very polite and helpful and took care of our every need.He guided the employees at each point notifying them what to be done and what to be placed in the room.We are very much thankful to him for that.He also arranged to get our shoes washed and cleaned and dried from the laundry free of cost, seeing it was wet and bad smell was coming(our shoes once got very wet and soiled due to rain).Due to this gesture,we could finally wear clean shoes.Much grateful to him for that.||||Mr Mehta also, was in touch throughout our stay and helped us at every point of contact. He arranged to get Asiatic lily flowers placed in our room as my wife really liked those(flowers are scarce as it's in the middle of a lake, but still he managed somehow). Also,as we had 4 airport transfers included in the booking(booking for both nights were separate individual reservations)and we only required one(to go to airport last day)he offered to give us a half day car instead of the other 3.We are much thankful to him for that.We couldn't use the car due to continued rain in both days but used boat instead.||||Mr Mehta also allowed us to have one meal in Neelkamal one day instead of Jharokha (package meal was only meant to be had in Jharokha but he made an exception).Due to this we could throughly experience the cuisine of Lake palace and it was an incredible opportunity given to us.||||We spent the second day afternoon in the suite again, enjoying the rain from there (we skipped lunch due to heavy breakfast)and we were very sad as we will need to leave the next day.In the evening,Mr Mehta came to meet us and we requested him for a boat ride instead of the car.He arranged us a personal boat ride(not the common one)to Jagmandir which was a sacred place in the middle of the lake which we had never visited.||||It was a nice boat ride as it was not raining that time and we very much enjoyed visiting Jagmandir despite it being for a short period of time.Much grateful to Mr Mehta for arranging this.||||After the boat ride,we explored the terrace of the property (sunset terrace)which also had nice views and clicked some nice photos. Then,we went to see some palace rooms and garden view rooms and also the Grand Presidential suite of the property. The rooms were small but beautifully decorated and we felt blessed we could enjoy the massive suite despite booking those rooms.||||The presidential suite however, didn't amaze us very much.It was vast, high ceilings, luxury bed, huge living and dining area but all that is available in any typical palace property managed by taj.The bathtub was inside the washroom(no lake views)and in the room also there is no sit out area as such. There is an extended terrace on the outside of the room where one can stand and enjoy lake views. Its a narrow terrace so you can't even place a chair and sit there. This looked to us as a downside of the presidential suite, and we felt our suite more value for money than this one.||||Dinner at Neelkamal-Afer the room tour and everything was over,we went to have our last dinner in the property at Neelkamal. They accomodated our package dinner at Neelkamal to complete the experience. We took a table near the lily pond and sat to enjoy the royal dining experience.Pradip, was our server who was a nice guy who was friendly and gave us very attentive service. We ordered a lamb item and some chicken sukka and other tandooris for starter and some rajsthani items as main course. For desserts we tasted their rajsthani Ghewar which was nice. The items were tasty. And it was a fulfilling meal experience. My wife tasted one of the palace special mocktails and it was also very nice.||||Special thanks to Pradip, for the nice dining experience.||||After a whole some sleep that night, the next morning we departed for our flight on a hearty note, after having breakfast. We were given a incense box as a departure gift and bid farewell by Mr Mehta,Harsh and the team.It was overall a nice stay for us which we will remember and cherish for many years. We hope to return again soon and explore another suite if time and budget permits.||||Special thanks to Harsh,Mr Mehta,Mr Parvinder, Pradeep, our server at Jharokha,The Deputy Housekeeper for taking care of us so well and for everything they had done for us.They made the stay a easy breezy.||||Now for future travellers coming to stay at Lake palace, here are some points to consider||||1.Book them in middle or off season if you want to stay for 3 or more days. The insane rates in peak season won't allow you to do so.||||2.Ask for upgrade(be it in peak or off season.off season increases the chances of it). They routinely upgrade guests and if you are coming to celebrate a special occasion, duely inform them as this will increase your chances.||||3.Book an all inclusive package with all meals or atleast one major meal.Food is expensive as it's a 5 star and due to it surrounded by a lake, you have no alternative options.||||4.Stay for 2 to 3 nights. This span of stay is more than enough to get the entire experience of Lake palace. After this, you might start...
