This hotel has several rooms on different floors. The rooms on the last two levels (101-204) are all swamp and damp. There is no ventilation at all and the carpet floor reeks. The rooms on the upper levels are ok.
This hotel is located very near (400m) to the Darjeeling Chowrashta and vehicles are not allowed on the road leading to the hotel. You have to walk around ~800m to reach the hotel from the cab drop point. The small lane to the hotel after the Chowrashta is at a very steep descent and I would not recommend it for old age and people with knee problems.
Another point to note is that though this place has geysers, the control remains with the reception. You have to call them every time for turning on the geyser which they do with a time limit of 20 minutes. Besides, there is no one at the reception after midnight. So, you will not have hot water after midnight or early morning, if you need it for some reason.
This hotel has food options but it's priced at almost twice the cost compared to outside. You either pay the price or do a steep climb to Chowrashta to eat.
The pantry boy is very accommodating. We were travelling with a baby and he was always available for preparing baby food and providing us...
Read moreI had a very tough time to locate the hotel since i was on my bike. Google maps took me on an entirely different route since it doesn't work on the hills. So if you want to reach here following just google maps, then you will definitely get lost. Moreover OYO doesn't provide a direct contact no. Of the hotel staff which made it even more difficult to find it.
Tip-: Ask the locals how to reach "Tungsung road"
Parking is a bit of a issue if you are coming here with your own vehicle.(I was scared constantly that my bike would get stolen, although the hotel staff assured me that it won't)
Apart from all these issues-: The rooms are clean, cosy and the staff are very polite. The food is well cooked and served hot and surprisingly very fast. 5 stars for that.
Overall it is a good place to stay if you come here via reserved vehicle.
P.S-: I checked out early coz i was very worried about my bike getting stolen(coz i parked it in open on a very steep road) and that would have ruined the whole trip.
Apart from parking and location, this place is very good. Will visit again surely but without my...
Read moreHorrible place. Absolutely horrible. Although the mall market is nearby, the journey to mall is no less than a trek. People who are physically weaker cannot go there. Walls of the rooms are filled with mold. Our room did not have water supply for 2 consecutive days which increased our problems, not being able to bath and do other stuff. Food was awful. The rice was undercooked, and the sabzis had absolutely no taste. Geysers don't work half the time. Customer service is horrible. They only care about money, not the customers. Staff say only one thing when something is asked, "Nahi sir, nahi hoga". Rooms are nothing like the pictures they provide. Absolutely dirty rooms. Carpets look like they were from the 1800's. TVs and telephones(to call reception) don't work. There is nothing 'Royal' in this hotel. Those who are coming with any travel agency, please remember to tell them to not include this hotel in your package because no other people come here except from travel agencies. My vacation was completely ruined. PLEASE DON'T COME TO THIS HOTEL. I AM SAYING FOR...
