We were originally booked to stay at 'Bagaz Cottage' hotel, but when we were met from the boat we were told we had been upgraded to Gili Exotic Villas (due to staff shortages). The hotel was beautiful, it wasn't too far from the shops/bars etc and once we had rented a bike, we were allowed to keep the bike just outside the hotel in the small courtyard area that they have.||||Our room was lovely, a comfy double bed, mini bar and lovely bathroom that is part inside/part outside. There is a safe in the room and good air conditioning. There was also a little outside area that was part of our room, with seats and had a roof over it.||||You book your breakfast the night before and can choose from loads of different things, the noodles are lovely! It is cooked fresh in front of you when you arrive, you choose what time you want it the night before.||||I can't remember the names of the 2 men that were working there when we were there but both were really friendly and helpful. One of them told us all about the island and recommended a snorkelling trip to go in, and that was so fun and I'm so glad he told us about it!||||The hotel was quiet and clean but you should be aware that the hotel is near a mosque and you will be woken up by 4am prayer! It wasn't a problem at all, just a shock!||||If I am going to be perfectly honest, on our last night, we came back quite late (& drunk), jumped in the pool then overslept and missed the breakfast we had pre-booked. We woke up in a panic to rush to the ferry back to Bali. We had obviously left some of our items lying around the pool and we found them folded up neatly near the pool and the staff greeted us warmly and said not to panic or say sorry and that they would make our breakfast when we were ready, as we were rushing off to get a boat, the put our breakfast in a lunchbox and drinks in plastic cups so we could take it all on the ferry. They could have been so annoyed at us but they just weren't and still made us feel so welcome. ||||We had such a good stay at this hotel and I would urge everyone to stay here! Its an amazing place and the staff just absolutely made it perfect for us. I am so so so glad we got upgraded...

Read moreFirst, the location on Google maps is wrong. Stand in front of the square in the centre part (a night market with food stalls in the evening). Take the street directly on the right side of the square and walk straight for about 5 minutes. You will find the villas on the left side.
The villas are spacious, clean and beautiful with an open bathroom, tv, fridge and in front villa number 4 and 5, a nice private sit area. We werein number5. These two villas give you more privacy, than the other on front of the pool or next to the reception.
There's a beautiful swimmingpool to take a dip. There's a lounge area where you can watch tv, read books or use the laptop. And there's a kitchen you could use. Breakfast is served there in the morning by the friendly staff. Delicious pancakes or toast, fruit salad and fresh fruit juice or tea or coffee. Definitely enough to get you going.
The location is close to the beach, harbour and restaurants.
Why 4 stars? The backside of this ground is next to a hostel. So, especially in number 5 and 4 you can hear much noise during the night of this hostel. It's close to the mosque. So you can hear the preaching during the day. You also don't have to set the alarm in the morning, the mosque will wake you up. There are a couple of roosters that like to announce their presence on the weirdest times.
So, my advice: earplugs. Or find another place of you're looking for quiet time. Other than that, the...
