I was a little bit put off by the other reviews, that's why I wanted to write this as i Ended up going ahead with the booking, I'm happy I did. The private dorms are fantastic value for money. They're not bunk beds or shared room, you literally get your own private room with a key. Only the toilets and showers are shared, but that's perfectly fine as they get cleaned frequently, no smell either, clean condition. I have a feeling that the non dorm rooms have issues as they don't get cleaned as frequently. For £5.70 you really can't go wrong and if you're heading from the airport you can grab the airport bus to the central train station and then walk to the hotel is only 15 minutes. I liked the private room well fanned and great at keeping the mosquitos out, didn't have any trouble. The wifi was also very good for the price I really can't complain, they even had free soap in the shower room. The staff is very friendly which of course is an added bonus. Also happy i went with additional breakfast option the Indonesian breakfast was great and perfect for what I needed. The area is also a busy hangout spot with massages, laundries, corner shops and bars, everything you could possibly need. All the 1 star reviews I have a feeling are for the private rooms, the dorm room option is perfectly fine, id go with this option if your looking for a good price for a...
Read moreTator Hotel was a decent cheap stay in Jalan Jaksa- I stayed in a single-bed dorm (actually a private cubicle/room with single bed and fan). If you get hot easily, go for a room with air-con if available, as the fan rooms have quite small ineffective fans.||||Wi-fi signal was strong in the room, however internet service seemed to be having issues intermittently during my stay||||The building and room was quite clean and tidy, staff clean the public areas daily and bathrooms are quite clean. Shared showers could use an increase in water pressure.||||The included breakfast features a choice between Indonesian and Western- Indonesian is the way to go, with decent Nasi Goreng (terrible coffee, drink tea!)||||Location is good, walking distance from Gambir rail station (take an motorcycle taxi or tuk-tuk from out front, definitely shouldn't cost any more than 10,000 rupiah, less if you speak some Bahasa or can be bothered haggling)||||There are a number of eating options on Jalan Jaksa (head right outside the hotel) and a couple of drinking options, as well as 2 mini markets a few meters away.||||I recommend this hotel for people who are happy to put up with a low level of discomfort to...
Read moreThere is not much choice of budget hotels in Jakarta (at least my experience). There are several of them on Jl. Jaksa, the price is usually moreless the same. We paid 160000 IDR / night for a double room with AC, bathroom inside. The room was pretty ok, we even got a window. Unfortunately, also a lot mosquitoes (although we got the AC there).
Breakfast included - toasted bread, butter, egg, coffee. It was better than we expected on such a kind of hotel. ---
Well, it's not a "nice" hotel, comparing other places in Indonesia it's overpriced. On the other hand, better than e.g. Djody's (cleaner, nicer room, window, better breakfest) which is the same price. ---
Other experience - another time we were in Jakarta and just needed to take a shower. Came to Tator, asked the guy to let us shower for some small fee, refused. In Djody, no problem, they let us...
