First of all , we all hv had fair share of our bad experiences during travel . This won’t be the last but attitude of the staff and ourselves will make a difference in the unforeseen circumstance . Due to booking error ( not shown in the Agoda. Com in the trip itinerary , I appeared to hv double booked 2 rooms instead of 1 after rebooking and consideration of the travel plan. When I checked in , the “ manager” Agus asked me if my friend is coming - I was puzzled as I thought I only booked a double room and I am staying by myself . He collected the hotel fees on the spot from me while I was asked to wait for late checkin as the room was not ready at 2.14 pm . Since Balinese people hv been hospitable and nice so far ( despite the scam visit at kintamani temple) , I politely accepted that request as the only cleaning staff was still busy cleaning ( although he lied that the aircon was under repairment - no one was there to repair the room at level 2 ) . At this point of time , you maybe thinking it is trivial . The story continued when Agus suddenly knocked on my door on the 2nd day of my stay and told me that he needed to collect another sum from me as “my friend” didn’t come … I was taken back and was asked to check my Agoda and to my shock , I hv two booking appeared now instead of one ( even notification by agoda didn’t remind me that I hv 2 overlapped booking ) . I have shared that there must be an error in it and he didn’t tell me immediately about it on the first night . Agus then called the owner of the properties and he demanded me to pay it as it could hv “affected “ their profit since I booked two rooms … the fact was the whole properties only had 3 rooms taken and I checked and confirmed that level 3 are empty and not occupied at all . With my bargain , they relented and wanted to take 300 k from me . I told them I could pay it since it could be my error tomorrow morning . After shower I bumped into Agus at the lobby and decided to pay first since I was ready with the cash and to my surprise he flip flopped and asked for 350k . I just apologised over it and paid it instead of having another discussion on this . When I came back around 10 pm , I asked the lady owner of the propertiy (I assume ) if I could hv a late checkout around 1-1.30pm as it is likely a rainy day the next day . She has graciously okayed it and I was thinking if I should tell Agus again in case he didn’t allow it again.
Indeed , it was rainy whole morning on the day of checkout , I could barely go for my lunch and came back at 1215 pm . I saw Agusat 12 14pm - I must credit him for helping the Korean couple with moving down the luggages ( not sure if there is any tip) . As predicted , he told me that I am late for my checkout already and asked me to leave at 1230 pm . I shared with him about the approved late checkout request and reminded him that I didn’t made a fuss over the late checkin when requested. He was then relented and told Me that he could Let me checkout at 1pm . Disturbed , I went back to my room and took a quick shower before leaving the properties at 1231 Pm . When passing the room Key to the landlady , I shared about my experience with her and told her how this can be resolved in a palatable way . Despite having the minimal facilities , it’s a bed and breakfast only - no TV and mattress was acceptable as the cost was cheap to us but there are always cheaper ones with similar quality during the unfavourable rainy season as u enjoy a lot more choices when there are much lesser tourists . If u travel alone and deserve some mutual respect , this is a place you can reconsider before booking .
Nonetheless, I am grateful for the experience and learnt how to handle negative attitude in Balinese style - chill it out as I continued to my Bali journey which was great despite the rains...
Read moreRooms are clean and basic, no TV but that's totally ok. Breakfast was sufficient, basic but I'm not fussed about it. Liked the location as it was a bit off the main street but do note that there are steps everywhere in the vicinity so it's not suitable for older folks or those with mobility issues. I had asked my room to be cleaned the next day as it was a bit dusty when I checked in but only very little. Also there was no cover for the duvet or blanket. Towel and water provided. No fridge but I'm sure you can use theirs. So when bringing food back just be mindful that it will attract ants as this is in the elements pretty much with water, trees, etc. Looked like a mini temple,...
Read moreThis is a wonderful oasis above the chaotic Ubud streets. The whole place is clean, water in the shower is strong and hot, air-con and wifi works well, there is a laundry rack for every room, convenience store right downstairs, everything I need!
I unfortunately succumbed to Bali Belly on my first night here and spent a good two days just lying in bed, and the hosts were so kind to bring me whatever medicine they had and offered me (delicious) plain porridge to help my recovery.
Thank you so much Wulan, Agus, and your family for taking care of me and making my stay such a...
