We loved our 4-night stay at the Krisda Ubud Guest House, and would absolutely stay again! This is a true guest house, meaning a family lives here, so you’ll see and hear them living their everyday lives during your stay. Every member of the family was incredibly warm and welcoming. They also run the convenience store at the bottom of the of the hill.
Location Tip: Have your driver drop you off at the Lazy Cats Cafe, which is on the main road. The guest house is up the stairs to the right of the cafe.
Pros: This was the perfect location for our time in Ubud, right along the main tourist area. You can easily walk many attractions like the Pura Dalem (literally across the street) to see the fire dance on Mondays and Fridays, the Pura Taman, the Ubud Palace, the Campuhan Ridge Walk, and the Kajeng Rice Field. There are tons of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
Cons: None!
Facilities The room is simple, but meets all of your basic needs. The bed was very firm, which can be a pro or con depending on your preferences.
Pros: Gorgeous grounds with lush green plants + fountains Large + clean room Water jug (need to plug it in) for hot and cold water Working AC, keeps the room cool Working shower w/ hot + cold water Shared outdoor refrigerator behind reception desk Quiet, considering the location
Cons: You must walk a few steps up a steep road, then up several large + steep stone stairs. It is challenging to carry heavy luggage un the stairs. If you message them on What’s App before you arrive, the owner’s son can come down and help you if he’s there. During rainy season, everything is slippery and wet. If you struggle with stairs, are elderly, or have back issues, this might be a problem. Wifi would intermittently cut in and out Room had some ants, so we kept any snacks tied up in a bag. There were also some lizards running around that get inside the room (didn’t bother us)
Service Pros: Rikki, the owner’s son, helped us with our heavy luggage, gave us recommendations for where to eat, and was very kind. The owner was responsive on What’sApp They gave us delicious fruit during our...

Longer: Kadek (owner, mum of 2 adult children) is just a heart expanding human. She takes care of you in the free, inviting, caring, welcoming kind of way. I arrived here, first time in Bali after a 20h flight from Germany. She arranged that a kind man pick me up from the airport (1,5h by car from Ubud). It truly was a blessing after all these hours of travel. We had such a nice ride. She send me all these amazing tipps for placed around without being pushy at all! I love her smile when she witnesses us supporting the locals because they do struggle after Corona.
Today she invited me to come to a water purification ritual in the Mengening temple, arranged the drive, provided us with sarongs and made sure we had everything we need to get home dry. I am wordlessly grateful for the beauty of being guided by a local through a ceremony like this. We tried Durian on the way back and I learned more about the culture, the ceremony and the paths.
Of course the room is very clean, equipped with really everything you need, air conditioning and very close to all the sights plus quiet.
So if you (especially woman traveling alone) are looking for a safe, beautiful and caring place to land, come back to, experience local love - come here and just wait for the warm welcome hug! No surprise: it also feels warm and true.
Thank...

The host shifted to me to another room but that had inadequate cooling (or took a long time to cool). When I mentioned this to the host and requested her to check if there's something I was missing when it came to operating the remote, she suggested if it was inconvenient for me I could move to another hotel. I took up the offer and moved in two days instead of four days as originally planned. Ubud was unbearably hot those days and without adequate cooling on both days of my stay I was feeling extremely uncomfortable hence i took the offer.|The hostess was a nice person who tried her best to help in any which she could.||Location is no doubt near the centre but that is also a huge pain as there is incessant traffic and noise on the road, it is impossible to even take a walk on the road without fear of being hit by a moving vehicle.|The property itself can be accessed by climbing about 5-6 big steps and while the hosts help with carrying bags, it's a factor to consider while accessing the guest...
