This is a bit of a long review as I’d like to give a heads up about the second location they have, but should not reflect our stay here. We originally booked Tropical Garden 2 and a deluxe suite facing the pool and garden, we didn’t even realise there were two sites at the time) but upon arrival we were told they were fully booked and were sent here. Wasn’t an issue as isn’t far and just happens to be much more in the centre (and directly next to monkey forest!) The lady at reception, who I keep forgetting to get her name is fantastic and extremely welcoming and helpful. It wasn’t until we had been in the room a while that realised it wasn’t what we had actually booked, it was a superior room facing the street. Because we had already used towels and laid on bed we decided we would use the room for the evening as to not make them have to clean everything again for the sake of a couple hours and speak to them in the morning. Unfortunately, this room is a lot older, and because of all the wood furniture and wood floor it brings in many large crawling unwanted guests (we are aware we’re next to a forest in a tropical country but we’ve not had this issue in 10 months this far, especially more than once in the same night). The balcony ceiling had half come down and when it rains we could hear dripping near an old wet spot I. The ceiling. I’d like to state this is not the hotels fault, it was starting to become clear that the number two hotel palmed us off to the staff here and they only did what they could. Most importantly I would like to say that in the morning we were moved to their own deluxe room facing the pool on ground floor, and once again the reception and check in lady was fantastic and we thank you for fixing everything for us on behalf of the other hotel. The pool is lovely, great food at the resto, the new room is exactly as it shows online. My advice is absolutely stay here but go straight for the deluxe rooms (they’re not expensive either). Lots of cheeky monkeys about so be careful on the higher floors with what you leave on the balcony haha, on the ground the staff do scare them off though. Be weary of booking the second site, I’ve now read that this isn’t uncommon for them to...
Read moreI would give this hotel 0 stars if possible. It is the nastiest, most filthy and disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in by far. This hotel had ants on the balcony, blood-stained sheets and the bathroom is full of thick layers of mould. It was so dirty, I asked for another room which the receptionist did arrange. However, I later discovered that the second room was no better than the first. I couldn’t have a shower because there was rings of black mould in the bath, around the windows, all over the shower and on the walls. I couldn’t sleep on the bed as it the sheets were bloodied. It is the hotel from hell and I am shocked that it is allowed to trade! I was so freaked out and repulsed that I checked out the next morning-and I booked for 3 nights. What made it worse is that this poor excuse for a hotel will not refund me my money which they should- I paid in full for a clean, safe hotel room but what I got was a grimy, unhygienic, filthy and neglected space which left me feeling so unsafe and uncomfortable. I was actually in tears because I could not believe how bad the hotel was and I had checked in very late. I was travelling solo as well so it was a really difficult and challenging experience. What’s strange is that I was in Bali for 1 month and stayed in various hotels and home stays across the island. I never had this experience anywhere else and all the other places I stayed were a lot cheaper! The staff in other places are much friendlier and honest and helpful- a true reflection of the Balinese people- unlike the receptionist at Ubud Tropical Garden who lied to me and said I would get my money back for the appalling state of their rooms. Unless you like staying in mouldy places covered with someone else’s blood, I strongly advise you to stay somewhere else. Do not stay at Ubud Tropical Garden as it is unsafe, unclean and not fit for humans to stay there. I wouldn’t even let my dog stay...
Read moreAfter 2 years of waiting because of covid i finally embarked from Manchester UK to the island of Bali. I was on a 3 week stay and my first week was in Ubud, right next to the monkey forest. I arrived in the afternoon and check in was simple and i was shown to my room. I had reserved a poolside room which was nice and spacious. Comfortable bed and large bathroom with shower, there was a adequate size TV in the room if i so desired. You had to order breakfast the day before, not a massive choice but very adequate if you didnt fancy anything off the menu well you must have been very picky. Some fun with the monkeys at breakfast time, so you had to sit in the middle of the restaurant or they would come and pinch your fruit. But that was all good fun. All the staff were extremely polite and always smiling. Reception would always sort anything out for you, taxis trips etc. Round the pool was very chilled, the staff were continously cleaning. Only negative was nothing to do with the hotel but as its adjacent to the monkey forest you could hear the people clearing all the leavesup with those big hoovers, and that was roughly 6am in the morning which wasnt great. The hotel is situated next to the main road but you could hardly hear any traffic noise which is a plus. Its not far from Ubud centre about a 5 minute scooter taxi away. Thers no shortage of restaurants or bars etc but its not a banging place with noise, its pretty chilled and very affordable prices. |Ubud is a must see destination in Bali, and thers plenty of trips you can go on from there that arnt far away. I cant see anybody being disapointed with Ubud or the...
