Worst experience ever, couldn't wait to leave.
If you like going to hotels to be told to "Shush" before 6 p.m, go straight to bed when you arrive, don't speak, don't watch TV and not move around a lot, then this "hotel" is certainly for you.
As a very frequent worldwide traveler, I can safely say I have never experienced this type of attitude and manner in which guests are dealt with at this so called "hotel". We had checked in no more than 20 mins and I was returning some calls to my clients when we received a call to our room and telling us to "Keep the noise down" as there was a noise complaint. This was 5.45 p.m in the afternoon!? The staff member did not ascertain if there was "noise", ask us any questions, we were just told to essentially "be quiet". We should have left there and then but as we were going out for a meal and wouldn't be spending a significant amount of time in the room, we decided to stay.
We returned to the hotel late (around 3-330 am), got our key and went to our room. No sooner we were in the door, the room next door started banging our wall and shouting in to us to be quiet. As a paying hotel guest, we have every right to have a conversation with each other at any time of the day or night without having to worry about the room next door banging on our walls (i say next door but the walls were so thin, I could hear a newspaper page being turned in the next room in the morning. Should have complained about the unreasonable, excessive noise there and then!) .We didn't have the tv on and were talking in low voices, drinking iced water in our room which we paid for and are more than entitled to do.
Next morning (9.15 am approximately),someone knocked on our room asking if we wanted it made up. Check out is 12 noon so its anyone's guess as to why the hotel thinks knocking on their guests doors at this time unnecessarily could ever be a good idea. We also received 2 calls to the room which hung up before we could answer around 10 am which really looked to us like the hotel staff were determined to disturb us as much as possible given the apparent levels of jet engine decibel noise coming from our room!
When checking out, we had discussed making a complaint as to how we were treated but decided to just never come back to. Imagine our complete shock and annoyance when some girl (i'm assuming some sort of supervisor) asked if she could have a word. She then had the audacity to tell us that as there was a complaint about noise from our room to not return to the hotel or bar again (I think she actually used the words "not to set foot on the premises").
She was not on duty last night, did not ask us at any stage what our side of the story was and therefore could not possibly know that the complaint was for talking at a low level in our room (without the TV being on as a mark of respect to our fellow guests at that late hour) at 3.30 AM which supposedly could be heard in the next room through walls that are 1mm over being paper thin.
A hotel room is supposed to be a home away from home and you should be able to relax and enjoy yourself but certainly not at the expense of other guests.By taking one guests word over ours and not even bothering to ask us any questions shows how utterly incompetent the staff were in dealing with a ridiculous situation that could have been addressed and resolved so so much easier by a more professional...
Read moreLet me get this out of the way - the service was incredible and this review is purely a reflection of the food.
We ordered the seafood platter for two. Both of us are not particularly picky people and we will happily eat most things - especially seafood! But nothing on the plate was good... and most things were kind of bad, to be honest. The cooked salmon and large prawns had no flavor (even some lemon could have gone a long way!). The smaller prawns were marinated in a sauce that really did not taste good. The oysters and mussels just tasted like brine... and not really in a good way but in a “I just swallowed a ton of sea water” way. We couldn’t even finish the smoked salmon and this is something we usually “fight” over at the end of the meal if we order it! And the salad was just some lettuce and cucumbers slathered in some over salted dressing. We came in late so maybe it’s on us - can’t expect fresh seafood in the evening - but imo the restaurant shouldn’t serve it if it can not deliver quality.
It was a bummer because all of the food sounded SO good and the waitress busted her butt serving us at a really busy time. Again, we were REALLY impressed with the service and we tried hard to like the food. But it just wasn’t good. Our tip is - go here for drinks, or if you have to come here for food, order something else. It sounds like other guests had a much better experience with...
Read moreCan only review Restaurant, 13 on the Green. Two of us went here for dinner last night and I can honestly say it was one of the worst meals I have ever been served in Ireland or anywhere else in the world. We ordered Garlic Bread and Salmon and Prawns to start with. The Garlic bread was so stale and hard it was completely inedible, the prawns were watery. We then had Bangers and Mash and 'Chicken Cordon Bleu for main course. The Sausages had obviously been cooked from frozen as they were so over cooked on the outside that they were almost black and impossible to cut through and uncooked and pink in the middle. My 'Cordon bleu'was a supreme of Chicken with a slice of ham and cheese thrown underneath it. I don't know where the Chef did his training but that's certainly nothing like a fillet of chicken stuffed with melted cheese, bechamel and ham, crumbed and fried which is what a Cordon bleu is supposedto be.. The server muttered an apology and removed the inedible items from our bill. Which still left us unfed and disappointed beyond belief. I will never return would encourage other diners to...
