Very disappointed with my experience here today. We sat down and asked for menus. Waited twenty minutes and eventually I just went up to the bar and asked one of the lads for a menu. Very nice young lad behind the bar and was apologetic about the table having no menus. We caught the waitresses attention and finally ordered after sitting about for so long. Ordered miwadis to drink and food. Ten minutes go by and the waitress, with the Canadian accent is plamasing the table of American tourists beside us. Takes their order and comes out almost immediately with their drinks. More time passes by and I’m fed up, I go to the bar again to order the miwadis myself. The same young lad who gave me the menus was extremely apologetic and kind as I explained that we’d be waiting so long on our miwadis. Food came out then and food was fine, nothing to write home about. The same Canadian waitress once again hovering around the table of tourists, attending to their every need - completely ignoring our table. A different waitress came up and asked was all okay and we ended up asking her for the bill rather than asking the original waitress seeing as this would probably have taken half the day to get the bill off of her. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with the service - waitress was simply not experienced enough, poor customer service skills. If I wanted to be a waitress I would’ve brought my CV with me not my cash but I may as well have been seeing as I had to...
Read moreDropped in for dinner on a Tuesday evening with my family. This is a beautiful bar with a richly decorated interior, lots of different rooms, and a sort of open atrium layout with multiple staircases ascending to the second floor. We loved it. Unfortunately, the food and service weren't as good as the ambience. Though this claims to be the largest bar in Galway, with dozens of dining tables, there was nobody at the door to welcome us or seat us. The bartender came out from behind the bar to tell us that there were no available tables, but that we could wait in the bar area until one opened up. When we were seated, we weren't given enough dinner menus or a children's menu, which I had to ask for. Our server was very nice and obliging, but after he took our order, we pretty much never saw him again. Our water glasses quickly ran dry. Our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. My veggie burger was pretty bland and the chips so overcooked that they were inedible, but I couldn't find anybody to complain to. To be fair, the rest of my family said their dishes were pretty good. Long after we had finished, nobody came to clear our plates, an issue I noticed throughout our section. I finally had to go find the waiter to ask for our bill and a takeaway box. Perhaps they were just having a bad night or can't find enough help. Whatever the cause, it's a shame because this place could...
Read moreRecently, I had the pleasure of enjoying a hearty and tasteful breakfast at Skeff bar, following a recommendation by a resident of Galway. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the friendly and welcoming service of the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied with my meal.
One of the things I loved most about the Skeff Bar was the spacious and interesting interior. Although it may appear small from the outside, the bar is surprisingly roomy once you step inside. The decoration style is unique and captivating, with a nod to the history and tradition of the area. I particularly enjoyed the various artifacts and vintage photos on display, which added to the ambiance and charm of the space.
But of course, the real star of the show was the food. My breakfast was cooked to perfection, with all the ingredients fresh and delicious.
One of the things I liked is that the olace was packed with locals, giving me a feel of their local culture.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Skeff Bar to anyone looking for a great meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With its delicious food, friendly staff, and interesting decor, it's definitely worth a visit if...
