Travelled from Limerick. Most stalls not Christmas related. No crowd control. private security guards on a public road is a big no. Zero crowd control. D-runk people all over the place. People begging all-over who werent born in Ireland. The weather was bad which nothing can be done about to be fair. A very bad experience to be honest, shows Galway in a very bad light. After costing several hundreds of euro to attend with hotel and so on. I won't be back it's rubbish. And very little shelter for when it rains. And very expensive.
Edit 2024, went again Today, very basic stalls nothing of substance and counterfeit items being sold such as perfumes, figurines and clothing. Galway Council should be ashamed. Very bad food offerings, all frozen food and the Gourmet Sausages are horrible and under cooked and slimy. Just stay away. Not worth it to travel. It says it opens at 10.00 AM, not fully opened until after 4.00 PM. Very expensive again this Year. Street beggers and drinkers all over the place. Non accompanied school goers...

Read moreNot a vegetarian food option in the entire market. Even the potatoes are cooked in chicken meat drippings in the rotisserie food truck. The guy was very friendly and warned me in time to cancel the order. The Italian cake "homemade" stall had the stalest and most horrible canolli I've eaten in my life. The prices are ridiculous. The chips and dip food truck has a super misleading menu format and the small print tells you that sauce and toppings are all extra so the 4.50€ for a small portion of chips actually ends up at 7€.. even the tea at the donut food truck near the ferris wheel.... Marked at 2€ in the menu. I got charged 2.50€ for peppermint tea "oh the herbal teas cost more". Nowhere in the menu does it say that. Very...
