Merchant Café & Bar — Restaurant in Galway

We arrive to Galway for Paddy's day . All very nice and all excited . Very busy everywhere. We seen your place nice and cosy. We got in. At the bar was some free space for the 4 of us. I asked the lady dressed in black if we seat at the bar, is there any chance to put the match one aswel as the other tv( Man utd- Liverpool) ? And the answer I got was: Are you having a lough? Straight away she changed her mood and go behind the bar and told to her staff very loud : guys, I feel I don't want to serve this guy. I was like, omg. Here we go! My short holiday vibe destroyed in front of my friends . 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ So we walk out. I give 5 star because I know how important the reviews are , but just so you know , that lady's behaviour dosent even deserve 1 star. I sorry to say that, but she has to be more friendly. Not even as a joke that type of behaviour wouldn't be good .

By the way. I work in the same industry and I know how important is at list to try to be friendly...

Went there this morning for some breakfast. Ordered the mini full Irish breakfast. It wasn’t amazing and wasn’t terrible. Very average. Thought some of the food was bland and a bit dry. Orange juice was €3 which I thought was a lot. The one big positive is the waitresses there were absolutely great and lovely. Compliments to them.

EDIT: went back about 5 months later, this time went with my sister and got a meal there instead. We had to wait 15 minutes just for someone to come give us a menu. Then when we ordered we had to wait almost 30 minutes for our food. Not good enough. Then when we got the food, her burger meat wasn’t cooked enough and my chicken wings and chips were almost burnt, the wings were very dry and over cooked, same with the chips and my sisters chips were the same. Very disappointed and it’s not the first time I’ve had a not great experience there. Definitely will not be going back again unless...

We came in for coffee at 8pm, but ended up getting 2 cosmos and 2 chocolate cakes with vanilla ice cream. The cakes were delicious, not too sweet, with crunchy chocolate bits. The cosmos were okay. I thought they had a small selection of wines and cocktails, but it was okay for a café and bar setting. The ambience was nice and warm, you get a section for the café at the front, the bar in the middle and the back. There was also an acoustic singer playing at the time (he was very good) which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The staff were attentive and quick to serve as well. One of the male staff also helped us when a drunk guy entered the café and went to our table. I was happy to have chosen this place to cap off...
