Spent a long weekend here in September 2023. After flying into Cagliari Airport and picking up our hire care it took about 20 minutes to drive to the hotel- as all the on-street parking had been taking we left the car in the train station secure car pack. It then took about 10 minutes to walk to the hotel.||The hotel only has reception staff on hand for a couple of hours a day, so we were sent instructions on how to access the building ahead of our arrival. This worked fine and we were able to take the lift to our room which was on the second floor. The door had been left open for us and our card key was on the bed. ||The property looks like it is pretty new, and has been designed in a very contemporary way. We were really impressed with our room- again very well designed with a very comfortable bed, a spotless bathroom, and a good amount of storage space. It had a large TV which offered a good range of local and international channels as well the option to stream Netflix and other services. There was also a good sized fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. A safe is provided but during our stay we were never able to work out how to use it- unfortunately no instructions were supplied.||Carlo Felice is located in the centre of Cagliari and our room looked out over the restaurants and bars on Corso Vittorio Emanuele. These stayed open until 2am each day, meaning there was a lot of noise from people outside. The room has shutters which blocked out some of the noise, but we found that putting on the air conditioning drowned out what was going on in the street and enabled us to sleep well.||As it is a small building there is no onsite restaurant but this did not cause any issues. We had breakfast every day in Ex Tipografia which is directly below the hotel and were very impressed with the choice and quality. There are also a large number of restaurants and bars within walking distance offering both local and international cuisine. Many places though get fully booked, so it is worth making reservations beforehand. Across the road from the hotel is the Crai supermarket, which we made use of a number of times to buy food and drink.||Most days we drove out of the city to visit other parts of the island, and were able to find parking near the hotel when we returned. Parking is free other than between 9am and 1pm and then 4pm to 8pm, when you need to pay at a meter. The meters are probably the most complicated we had ever used, and we had to ask locals for advice, but once we got the hang of things it was straightforward and not too expensive. One thing to note is that there are gangs hanging round the meters on the Via Santa Margherita up the hill from the hotel who ask for money to help you park- they are not too aggressive and we just ignored them.||Overall a great stay in an impressive hotel location at the centre of things, and would stay...
Read moreRecently simpathetically converted from a long derelict building. Rooms were modern but with some of the character of the old building, and immaculately clean. Accommodation was fairly tight but well designed so it wasn't a problem. We had a corner room so had a small balcony overlooking both la piazza and the pedestrianised side street full of open air restaurants. From the balconies one can sit with a coffee from the pod machine in the room and watch the world go by.
This immediate area around the hotel is one of the centres of Cagliari social life and gets busy and noisy especially on Saturday night. The sound insulation in the room was extraordinarily effective, but some sounds do get through, so if you're a light sleeper then this place may not be for you. But then, you should be out in the streets joining in anyway! We took the precaution of earplugs and had an excellent nights sleep in the very comfortable beds.
There are plenty of restaurants around including the ground floor under the hotel. We went a couple of minutes further on to Sa Domu Sarda in via Sassari, a Sardinian cuisine specialist which we'd thoroughly recommend (best to book). For a quick snack there's a pizzetta place opposite the entrance to the hotel.
Overall the hotel managed to exceed our expectations at every turn. The only minor criticisms were that there weren't enough coffee pods or milk for our particular wants. I'm sure reception would have given us more, but as it's such a small hotel, reception closes at 4pm. We got top ups at the rather good Crai supermarket at the...
Read moreThe hotel is located in the center of town close to the Marina District where there are a lot of restaurants.|Our room was modern and updated. It had a nice shower and comfortable double beds. The room is very small and a little tight. There is parking in the area, but it is very difficult to find a spot. i had to dive arond town 5 times until I found one, and I just got lucky that someone was leaving as I approached the car. Once you park you have to pay for parking from 9-1 and 4-8pm. I used the Moone Go app so I didn't have to run down to the meter. This was convenient. My favorite in town was the Archeological Museum. If you like that sort of the thing, they had an amazing collection of bronze statutes made by the...
