Our daughter bought us this mini break to Rome and chose the Castel Sant Angelo inn for us to stay in. The hotel is just fifteen minutes walk from Vatican city and thirty to forty five mins walk to the Coliseum depending on your walking pace.|We had the most wonderful stay with the most friendly helpful owner we have met. The complex comprises of four different rooms in an apartment on the third floor of a block. There is a small lift which is very welcome after a days sightseeing.|The rooms were fairly modern and very clean with comfortable king size bed in our room.|Theres a fridge, safe and large screen TV though all Italian stations. Id recommend a fire stick or a cable to hook up the TV if you really cant miss TV in your own language.|There is free wifi in the room which helps keep your roaming charges low.|Breakfast is a pastry, fruit juice and a hot drink at a nearby cafe which the hotel provides a voucher for.|Doesn’t sound a lot but it was enough to take us through to lunch.|There’s also a coffee maker in the hall for guests to make their own espresso, americano and Latte.|The hotel owner is a wealth of knowledge and very helpful. He helped us by providing a print off of the bus timetables and prices for the bus to get to Rome airport.|We would happily stay here again and happily recommend the hotel to others...
Read moreThis was our second visit to Rome and the first to stay at this Inn. The location was excellent and the rooms were clean. However, there were a few disappointing items. First, all of the previous reviews had talked about the great breakfasts delivered to the room by Stephano, who would also assist with any questions or issues that might arise. Upon arriving at the Inn we were greeted by Anna, who was very nice, but not who we expected. She said she was not aware of Stephano. However, when pressed, said "oh him, he moved to a new property". Breakfast was now a few packaged items set out at night. A stale Bundt cake, yogurt and two varieties of cereal. A coffee machine was available, although when it ran out of water we had to call Anna who refilled later that evening. No water was provided in the small refrigerator in the room and no real housekeeping. Again, the location is great and the room sufficient. The value for the location was good and if we had not had certain expectations based on previous reviews we would probably have felt differently about our stay. . ||||The room had air conditioning, a decent shower, a safe and WIFI that was okay. If you are looking for a basic room, in a good location then this is a...
Read moreThe entire experience was frustrating, unsafe, and unacceptable.
I stayed here while there was a terrorist threat for Americans. The second night there was a power outage which left me in complete darkness overnight, unable to charge my phone and call for help. The sirens were going off, the animals were going crazy. It was horrible! I didn’t know what was going on or if there was an attack. The staff didn’t even cared to make sure the guests were okay.
Also despite the booking clearly stating that VAT and city tax were included, the property demanded extra fees just an hour before arrival. They also requested my passport & personal information via an app raising data privacy concerns.
Also, they state there’s a free breakfast included and there was no breakfast. They just give you a ticket/coupon for a restaurant nearby and when I went they didn’t even want to give me an orange juice, only black coffee.
I left after only 2 nights of a 5-night stay due to safety concerns and dishonesty. I contacted Booking.com after the incident and was promised a refund upon providing proof, which I submitted. Since then, I've only received automated responses with no resolution.
Worst experience ever. This place is unsafe & dishonest. Do...
