As first time visitors to Rome, we didn't know quite what to expect and of course one of the first impressions is your bed for the night. I had booked our Rome trip in dark, miserable January, so was glad that the Rome weather was so favourable for our first visit too! Dante's was extemely reasonable in price (I would not say budget, perhaps closer to mid range (for Rome & compared with other options I saw anyway), so really didn't know what to expect - even though reviews were good, but I needn't have worried at all! ||We arrived at lunchtime, it was bustling outside (not noisy busy, just general restuarant/few market stalls type of busy) - the B&B is situated behind a large wooden door and after proceeding down a corridor you come to a small cage lift which is suitable for one person and a case or just luggage if you use the stairs to meet it. Once we arrived at the entrance, we were met by Francesco - one of the brothers who runs the establishment - a charming, helpful guy who spoke good English. ||Our room was exceptional for a B&B, reasonable size - plenty of room for both of us, a wonderfully comfortable bed (needed after all the walking we did during our time there!!) and a extremely well kitted out bathroom (with unexpected toiletries) - everything was clean and fresh and there was wardrobe space with hangers & even a fridge with two bottles of fresh water (these were provded daily). A map of Rome was also provided which was well used! ||For those not so keen on walking their way around Rome, there is a Metro station; Ottaviano about 250m away - good for places of interest such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and the Colosseum. The Vatican museums and St Peter's Square are within easy walking distance of the B&B - at most 10 mins walk. ||We walked everywhere in Rome and it was a pleasure to come back to a comfortable bed! There was a good range of food for breakfast which would cover the majority of tastes - fruit juices, tea/coffee, continental meats & cheeses, yogurts, bread, cereals and the best cakes!||We would definately stay again on a return visit - Francesco & Andre - keep up...
Read moreWe just stayed here for 4 nights. Andre has created a quaint B&B for in the hustle bustle of Rome. He has paid attention to detail. The room is nice size and very sharp-looking and clean. A teeny little caged elevator gets you to the Dante. One person at a time with your suitcase. It just adds to the quaintness of the B&B.||||This is walking distance to St. Peter's Cathedral and Vatican. We walked to Fountains of Trevi etc, but if that seems too far, the subway is just down the street from the B&B.||||He provides a variety for breakfast items and prepares your coffee as you eat. He will offer suggestions to places to go and the good values. ||||He helped get us a shuttle for in the wee hours of the morning. Shuttle service was on-time and seemed like a fair price.||||Highly...
Read moreThe B&B Dante's in Vaticano 2 is located right next to the Vatican Museums and is easily accessible by metro line A (station: Ottaviano). It takes about 10 minutes to walk to St. Peter's Square. The metro and bus connections mean that you can get around the whole city quickly. If you like to walk, you can easily reach the sights such as Castel Sant'Angelo, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and many other sights. The room/bathroom is very modern, new and comfortable and has a safe as well as a fridge.
The location is perfect for exploring the Vatican and Rome. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a supermarket is also only 5 minutes away. Our room faced the courtyard so it was quiet.
Next time we are in Rome, we would love...
