A Thai Oasis Near the Vatican: A Hidden Gem in Rome
After a few days of indulging in Rome's culinary delights, I found myself craving something beyond Italian cuisine. That's when I stumbled upon this hidden gem, tucked away just minutes from the Vatican Museum.
This small, family-owned Thai restaurant may have limited seating, but it's filled with flavor and warmth. Owner Chef Pum, along with her siblings, personally prepares each dish, ensuring an authentic Thai experience.
Som Tum Lao (off-menu item): A flavor bomb that instantly transported me back to Thailand. Kra Pao with Fried Egg: Expertly cooked and bursting with flavor. Shrimp Fried Rice: Delicious and satisfying.
Located at the entrance of Trionfale Market, this restaurant is perfect for refueling after a day of sightseeing.
Prices are very reasonable, considering the portion sizes and exceptional quality.
Khun Pum and family's warm Thai hospitality made me feel right at home.
This hidden gem is a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of Thailand in Rome. I'm grateful for the warm hospitality and look forward to returning on my next trip.

Read moreMy wife and I are Thai, visiting Rome as tourists, and after days of pasta and pizza we were really craving real Thai food. We found Chef Pum Thai Street Food Take Away — and wow, it truly brought us back home!
Every dish tasted genuinely Thai — rich flavor, perfect balance of spice, and made with care. You can really tell the chef knows the real street food style from Thailand. The portions are generous, prices are fair, and the staff are super friendly.
Highly recommend this place not just for fellow Thais missing home, but also for locals who want to experience what authentic Thai food really tastes like. It’s the real deal — 100% authentic, 100%...
Read moreThis place is legit!! This is better than the Thai food I have in LA. I was tired of all the pasta and Italian food on my trip and I found this place in a whim after spending the day in Vatican City. We ordered: green curry with chicken, chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce, shrimp fried rice, and mango sticky rice. Every dish was solid.
Don’t let the atmosphere deter you. This place is easy to miss. It’s tucked into a strip mall food court kind of situation. It’s the first stall on the left. Also: although in the name it says “Take-Away”, there are tables to eat outside if you wish.
Quick service too. Thank you for some great Thai...
