One of the worst hotels during our 15day visit in italy. We stayed 5 days at The Hive, despite the good location and interesting design layout, there were several service lapses.
On the day of check in, we returned to the room in the evening with some water as the hotel did not provide water. As we wanted to store the water in the minibar/fridge to keep it cold, we were shocked to find a bunch of leftover fruits, food and half-eaten chocolate bar left inside from the guests from the previous stay. The cup was also extremely dirty and look unwashed after use and there were no tissues either. I went down to the reception and requested for these items to be cleared and said they can do it the next day during cleaning of the room since it was already late in the evening and gave my room number.
The next day, upon returning to the room, not only is the fridge not cleared, the food in the fridge started to grow mould. At this point, there was a weird smell and to make matters worse, the bathroom tile came off as well. We went down again to inform reception of the issue and they said they will send someone from maintenance to fix the tiles the next day and for the food they will send someone to clear it asap. Within 30mins, someone came up to clear the items, but they simply threw the items into the bin in our room and removed it. There were still remnants of the mould and food in the fridge and we were hesitant to put our food into it.
The next day, the tile was not fixed and we gave up so we just lived with the conditions for the rest of our stay.
In summary, this is a very old and not very well maintained hotel, TV cant screencast Netflix, water is not included, things are falling apart, and service is lacklustre. To those staying, the toilet design has a recessed metal plate with sharp edges so be careful when showering. It doesnt help when the bar is located right above in the honeycomb design, on the last night before our departure there was a party going on till late 12am we could hear people shouting. They stayed on till 3am and were running along the staircase or corridors, not sure what they were doing as i didnt go out to look but there was shouting and running and we couldnt sleep, while this issue isnt the hotel's fault, they could have ensured guests left the premises by a certain time.
All in all, this left a bad impression to our 15day honeymoon and we were disappointed that we chose the hive to end our...
Read moreCheck in was pretty basic. Not much of a welcome but we coped. The reception area is large, shining and has a number of steps with under lighting -all looks lovely but if you are elderly or have any visual impairment, negotiating these steps is not an easy task. The floor is super shiny-all credit to housekeeping- but the lighting reflects on both the gold trim on step edges& super shiny floors so placing your foot becomes a mega task to do so safely . We asked for a room with a bath & a quiet room which we were assured we would have ! Well we got the bath alright but the room, even on the 4th floor was unbelievably noisy every night !! The rooms are spacious & super clean . Bathroom was lovely with gorgeous toiletries but the bath was very narrow & had no non slip surface /mat so difficult for us older folk to get out safely . I have to say the towels were fab and a great size but boy did they scrimp on the toilet paper !! It was as rough as you could get - cheap & nasty ! The lights in the bedroom are a disaster! Someone already commented on this so read their remarks There’s absolutely no rhyme nor reason as to how they go and off. It’s either all or nothing! Now the breakfast -well there was quite a good choice , spread out over four separate sections which when the dining room was full meant you were constantly apologising to the people sitting at their tables as you had to step into their space to allow folks move around with plates of food. We stayed five nights and on 3 occasions the hash browns and beans were lukewarm at best!! The cold meats were constantly being left uncovered so ham was “off” one day. On a number of occasions I had to ask for food to be topped up as trays were empty and this was before 9am , an hour before end of service As for the Pool & Spa facilities- what a total let down! Having literally travelled around the world this is the first and only time where as a hotel guest I was expected to pay to use the facilities!! I have no problem paying for treatments but it’s normal practice in hotels that guests get free access to the spa area. Bitterly disappointed with this The saving grace that gets this hotel a 3 star rating is its location and the housekeeping & bar staff. They were so lovely but managers spent long periods walking about but...
Read moreThe hotel is beautiful and spacious and very clean.|We arrived at the hotel at 11 in the morning and check in is at two. The manager of the hotel told us that he thought he could get us into a room by 12 and suggested we go up to the rooftop to wait the hour. Breakfast closes down at 10:30 so the kitchen was closed but the restaurant manager gave us a couple of croissants and coffee on the house. We went down to the desk and tried to check in at noon, but the manager told us that it would probably be another 45 minutes. We went into the lobby and sat and waited for him to call us and let us know when we could check in. He gave us our room keys at 1:45. We were disappointed because had we known we would have left the hotel and gone and gotten lunch and walked around our neighborhood but we felt like we were kept hanging since he kept telling us things like five more minutes or it won’t be long.|Our room was very nice and clean, it was very spacious with plenty of storage and lots of hangers. |The main problem we had was the shower. The water doesn’t mix so the water would fluctuate from freezing cold to scalding hot and go through a rotation. We would have to stand in the shower out of the stream of water waiting until it was tolerable to get in then jump in get wet back out soap up and wait until it was tolerable to get back in and rinse off again. The next morning, I mentioned it to the front desk and they acted surprised and told us they would have maintenance go in and fix it. The morning after that when we showered, it was the same, and we met a friend who was staying in another room in our hotel and he told us the same thing about his shower. The bathroom sink was able to mix the water fine so I once actually just washed my hair in the bathroom sink.|They offered shampoo and body lotion, and a bar of soap, but no hair conditioner.|We were not able to use the room phone to call down to the reservation desk for anything either. They never answered the phones. So while the hotel was in a great location, very spacious and clean. I don’t think we would come back to this place because of the issue with the water and unavailability of help...
