Fraterna Domus — Hotel in Rome

We stayed 4 nights and honestly we barely slept. It was sweltering hot and with no air con we had to leave the window open. The street was exceptionally noisy most of the night, which is great if you were allowed out after 11 to join in on the festivities. Alas, no. Curfew kicks in around the same time as Rome came alive. We found the curfew very stifling, even with a baby travelling with us. No late night Italian coffees or trips to beautifully lit landmarks. The beds were extremely basic (understandable in a convent but not for the price we paid) One bed was so uncomfortable that my husband and I switched every night so that at least one of us could get a few naps in. ||The sisters were a mixed bag of very lovely, hard to read and straight up annoyed to have to deal with customers. Wifi is only accessible from the foyer and very unreliable. Barely able to even send a message to my family back home throughout the stay and resorted to using restaurant wifi whenever possible.||Overall, this is a convent so we didn't expect luxury but the price did not match up to the experience. The beds and curfew were our number one problem, when travelling you need to sleep well when you get a chance to sleep. ||Location was amazing and the neighbourhood was very active with lots of great little restaurants and cobbled streets. Chapel was also lovely. Would recommend getting a good nights sleep with air con and no lock...

Siamo stati dal 31 Dicembre al 3 Gennaio...esperienza negativa partendo da... orario colazione(entro le 8.30)mai successo in nessun albergo che abbiamo alloggiato e per 3 gg la stessa ciambella,cmq molto scarsa!!!! La camera da letto doveva essere matrimoniale e invece due letti singoli, piccola e scomoda anche il bagno, ci avevano detto che i riscaldamenti sarebbero stati accesi dalle 17.30 alle 23.00 (mai accesi)quindi i nostri panni sempre umidi!! La scala per raggiungere le camere era stretta e ripida che con la valigia si faceva fatica a passare!! Ma fino a qui possiamo farla andare... La cosa peggiore che mi fa imbestialire di più è la fregatura che abbiamo preso. Preciso che abbiamo prenotato a Luglio con tanto di telefonate,mail e acconto con bonifico il costo era di 100€a notte con prima colazione +7€ di tassa per due persone al giorno e se volevamo fare qualche pasto in loco si aggirava dai 16 ai 18€ a persona Bene la sorpresa è stata che al giorno del pagamento ci siamo trovati il prezzo di 120€ a notte più 6€ a persona per la tassa al giorno e siccome avevamo fatto un pranzo li(un primo...un secondo con contorno tutto tiepido e un quarto di vino 25€ a persona)🙈!!! Alche' ad un nostro chiarimento con davanti la mail dove c'era scritto il prezzo concordato,la suora Cecilia ci risponde che la mail e' vecchia e i prezzi sono cambiati😡😡😡...ma stiamo scherzando!?!?!? I prezzi potranno anche essere cambiati ma loro devono avvertire tramite una mail o una telefonata il cliente di questi cambiamenti, non fare la sorpresa dopo che tu hai soggiornato Oltretutto noi avevamo bloccato il prezzo a Luglio!!!! Non abbiamo voluto fare discussioni perché siamo persone educate ma penso che in un caso del genere non dovevamo pagare e chiamare le forze dell'ordine per chiarire la situazione!!!! Il giorno dopo arrivati a casa abbiamo chiamato la struttura per poter parlare con suor Milena e raccontando la storia ci ha risposto che le dispiace per l' accaduto Anche a noi dispiace perché ci abbiamo rimesso dei soldi, dei soldi per me rubati e non me lo aspettavo proprio dalle suore Quindi per noi è stata un' esperienza pessima che non ci è mai capitata in tutti i nostri viaggi!!!🤬🤬

I stayed here with my partner and her sister in December 2019. My 4th visit to Rome but a first time visit for the others in my group. We had two rooms - a twin and a single. The rooms were small but clean and functional and perfectly comfortable. There is a shortage of power sockets re charging phones etc but that would be my only complaint. ||||The Nuns were very friendly and had excellent senses of humour. Very helpful and kind. ||||Breakfast was standard continental with plenty of everything. The coffee was not the best and there was no decaf available but again this was a minor problem. ||||Evening meals were available at a cost of €16 per head - for this you got 4 courses - pasta/soup, a meat dish, salad, fruit/pudding plus wine at no extra cost. Where else in central Rome could you eat tasty home cooked food for that price?! Amazing. ||||The tiny chapel attached to the residence is beautiful and very peaceful. The front door of the residence is about 15 feet from the Tiber. 5 mins walk to via conciliazione, 15 to St Peters.
