This place was amazing. The staff were super friendly and catered to my two year old as if he were their own. By the time I was done with my meal, my son referred to him as grandpa. Aside from the excellent customer service, the foods was amazing. I had the tripe and the wife had shrimp spaghetti. They were both delicious and worthy of five stars, which I never give. The focaccia bread was delicious and crunchy but soft and herbal all at once. It paired nicely with everything. We had the crease and tomato appetizer aaaand I have never tasted such wonderful basil in my life. We paired our dinner with a bottle of house red and I have no complaints about it. In the end we shared tiramisu and creme brulee. The tiramisu was just whatever, but maybe I was expecting too much. The creme brulee had a great flavor to it and crunch to the sugar. It wasn't overly sweet like some can be.
I dint usually like to eat at the same places twice while traveling but I woukd make an exception for this place. I am eager to see how their other dishes stack up.
Quick recap... customer service was wonderful. They tested me like family and not a foreigner to take advantage of. Food was delicious and im...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant on the 3rd day of our trip and expected great things since we were staying right across the street and we had seen some dishes that looked delicious. We were dining with our children, which I admit might have been the source of our unwelcome treatment. We were seated so close to the front door that I had to stand up to let people who couldn't squeeze by into the restaurant. The waiter seemed upset that we had ordered light meals (80 Euro total). There was a long metal shaving in my food, which was disturbing but I don't believe was intentional. They never brought us a wine menu. The owner really upset me by grabbing money from my hand before I had set it down for a tip. I had a risotto in white sauce and it was very plain and unexciting, with the exception of the of metal shaving. My wife had sea bass, which inspired her to purchase some fresh fish the next day, since her meal should have been called"fish in olive oil hold the flavor."

First, they carted my wife and me to the back of the restaurant (plenty of empty tables up front) near the door to the kitchen that they kept slamming. Then the waitstaff ignored us for about 20 minutes, until we finally succeeded in flagging someone down. The waitress seemed disinterested and didn't really care. We felt entirely unwelcome.
Then, the food came out. My carbonara tasted like I was eating pure salt - entirely inedible, and my wife's seabass pasta was nothing to write home about either. While we were eating, they started moving all the furniture around near us, and they cleared my wife's dish before she even finished chewing the last bite. They couldn't wait for us to leave, and seemed happy to see us go.
There are tons of great restaurants in Rome that will serve you delicious food, make you feel welcome, and deliver an overall enjoyable experience. This is not one of them.
Go literally...
