I don't usually do that, but the only thing special about this place is an original menu (two stars for that) The food was ok, nothing more.. The Beef Steak was chewy and way overcooked, but this was not the issue.
We ordered a Gnocchi, we love this dish and it's variations everywhere we go. We didn't know it's a wierd traditional Roman Gnocchi, we were naive and thought we are going to get a regular gnocchi with tomatoe sauce.. The waiter didn't tell us anything about this dish or explained it to us (something waiters usually do when a dish is very special or different from the original taste pallet of the usual diner) Apparently it has nothing in common with regular gnocchi, it was a very very bad dish!! We didn't touch it after the first bite..
It was made with semolina instead of potatoes, the taste was not good at all(!) and it was served like a kind of weird lasagna with ton of cheese on it which didn't help to hide the taste of the dish. it had a bad texture and a bad experience and the worst part was THEY DIDN'T LET US CHANGE IT TO SOMETHING ELSE AND ACTUALLY CHARGED US FOR IT! I explained to the manager it's extremely rare for us to ask to change a dish, my wife usually likes everything served to her and she just couldn't eat it...
I gave this place only two stars not because my dish was only ok (the steak), but for the fact that if someone don't like a dish in a restaurant they need to change it, this is their responsibility to make you feel good with their food and you're paying for that experience..
This is the first time in my life that I heard a restaurant dont agree to change someone's dish when he didnt even touch it (because it was wierd and taste was not good at all)
Rome has such beautiful restaurants and extremely good food but this was a bad experience.. I'm very...
Read moreEdit: Dear owner, thank you for your passive aggressive reply. We didn’t eat much all day and was starving so yes we did finish rest of the food that we paid for with our own money. Just because we finished it doesn’t mean it was good. I wasn’t going to mention this part because I didn’t want to write a long review and bore everyone but both my husband and I are having symptoms of food poisoning with diarrhea and vomiting after finishing all the food. And yes we know these symptoms are from your food because we didn’t eat anything earlier. Yes you are allowed to make a mistake because you are human. But we are also allowed to write bad reviews online if we have bad experiences. I don’t understand what you mean by stabbing your back, I’m a customer not your coworker. Just because you love your restaurant doesn’t mean everyone else has to as well. Please don’t take this anymore personally. Take care.

I almost never write reviews. Tried to stay positive after plastic came out from our appetizer but this restaurant was a disappointment from start to finish. We should have left.
여러분 여기 제발 가지마세요 ㅜㅜ 한국 사람들 식당에 엄청 많던데 제발 같은 한국인으로서 뜯어말려요....

That translates through its food, vibe and the people who run this place with a lot of love and happiness- all of which is very evident. Its warmth stood out against so many places we visited and we went twice and would've gone once more had they not been shut for a holiday. The Lasagna was the best I had anywhere, almost silken, far from the stiff and stodgy pasta that somehow was found at other cafes. We had the shaslik which was chargrilled , and eggs and truffles the next day. The Tiramisu was served in a bowl and was good. However, the revelation of a dessert was icecream and cake served with Amarillo. This was just smacking! We loved it so much that we were sad not to have it again the following shut day- so they very kindly packed it neatly for us and informed us about pre-eating instructions. It is these kinds of special and kind experiences that make travel memorable and that stay forever. Would revisit Old Bear in a minute, it is totally my kind of a neighborhood pub + restaurant. My Rome trip would feel largely incomplete without...
