We stayed at Palazzo Manfredi in late May and booked the Grand View Suite for a very special occasion.. a proposal. Unfortunately, despite the high price point (3000 euros/night) and anticipation, our experience with the room itself was disappointing.
First, the access to the room was incredibly confusing. The hotel address does not match where you're actually supposed to enter. If you choose the wrong entrance which is the one shown as the official address, you're locked out and need to walk several blocks to the other side. Once inside, reaching the suite requires walking directly through a busy bar filled with guests and staff.. not exactly the luxurious or private experience we were expecting.
Noise was another major issue. We could hear music and chatter from the Court bar late into the night (1–2am), making it hard to sleep or enjoy quiet time in the room. On top of that, restaurant staff frequently gathered right outside our suite door, speaking loudly as if it were their break area. At one point, someone even left another guest’s luggage directly in front of our door, blocking our way in and out.
Our private terrace, which should have been a highlight, lacked security from the bar area.. the suite shares a deck with the bar next door, and guests and staff could see directly onto it as there was no proper barrier other than a couple plants in between, making it feel unsafe.
Service was also underwhelming. We called room service to request cutlery, and no one came. We had to call again just to get basic items. We also tried to get a reservation at the hotel’s own Aroma restaurant and were unsuccessful, disappointing, considering we were in the top tier suite.
Breakfast was also mess. The elevator was down, and we were directed to the wrong floor by staff. The hotel also has multiple elevators that are not well-marked, adding to the confusion.
Finally, although not directly related to the suite, i think worth mentioning as it reflects on the hotel service at a higher level.. we had a reservation at the hotel bar during our stay, and the service was appalling. Our server was unexpectedly rude when we asked if we could move to a table with a better view and even when ordering. They held a special night with a menu featuring only Gin (which we were not informed of when making the reservation), and when I asked for a vodka based drink off their regular menu, they denied my request saying we had to pick off the special menu..
Overall, this stay fell far below expectations considering the price. The location and views are undeniably beautiful, but the lack of soundproofing, poor communication, and disorganized service made it so that we...
Read moreOur 3 night stay at this hotel was the highlight of our trip around Italy! ||I would summarize this hotel as understated luxury. On the outside, the hotel is easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it. There’s no flashy entrance or obvious signs. Upon arrival inside the lobby, it feels like you are invited to an exclusive party as there are often people waiting to go to their cocktail bar or the Michelin restaurant on the rooftop, all dressed to impress. Despite being in the center of one of the busiest areas in Rome, it’s surprisingly quiet and peaceful.||If your budget allows, I highly recommend to stay in one of the Grand View suites. We stayed in the Grand View J Suite, which is a corner room in the building just next to the main building. We had a separate elevator that opened directly into the room. It is a type of room James Bond would stay in! The room is spacious, clean and thoughtfully designed. I appreciated the extra space for luggage. The shower has a glass wall that looks over the bed and onto the view of the Colosseum. I was literally washing my hair while looking at the Colosseum!! Pictures on the website are accurate but definitely more amazing in person, particularly when you see the floor to ceiling view of the Colosseum!||Staff are all polite and polished and prompt at addressing our requests. ||Breakfast on the rooftop of the restaurant starts at 7:30A and includes a nice assortment of typical breads, pastries, cold cuts, fruit, etc. I noticed they had a few additional hot items compared to other hotels we stayed at. I believe they also had a la carte items as well. Additionally, they also allow you to take breakfast in the room if you want it outside of the restaurant breakfast hours. We had an early morning Vatican tour and requested earlier delivery time. There was a bit of confusion in our order, but for the most part it was delivered on time.||If I am being picky, I would say management should take note of some of the minor wear and tear. For example, when the front desk gave us a tour of the room, one of the drawers had difficulty closing. I noticed several of the chandeliers in the main building were noticeably crooked. Even the elevator in the main building was out of order for 2 days. I normally wouldn’t state such minor things if this was your run of the mill Marriott or Hyatt, but I would expect more attention to such detail in this hotel. ||Despite my negative observation, the stay was amazing and we had absolutely no complaints. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend anyone who is looking for a special occasion hotel that is memorable...
Read moreWe booked the Man Freddy Luxury Hotel in Rome expecting a calm, high-end boutique experience. What we got instead was absolute chaos, zero hospitality, and a level of rudeness I’ve never encountered at any hotel — especially not one this expensive.||||About 20 minutes after we checked in, an enormous protest came barreling down the street outside. We’re not from Europe, so we were understandably alarmed. Doors to the hotel were wide open, people were screaming, and the entire building was shaking. It felt like we were in the middle of a riot — absolutely no communication or warning from the hotel whatsoever.||||When we rushed to the front desk for help, the man working there completely dismissed us, saying, “Oh, they’re just dancing.” Dancing? People were shouting, the building was trembling, and guests were visibly panicked — and this was the best explanation we got? Not even a sorry or an ounce of empathy. We were told, "Everything on this street shakes. There's nothing we can do. Get over it." The attitude was shocking.||||Things only got worse. That same dismissive, rude tone carried through the entire stay. At cocktail hour, which we had a reservation for, we were pushed to the back of the room despite arriving early. When we politely asked to sit closer, we were told flatly no, without reason. We tried ordering common cocktails — nothing complicated — and the server looked confused, not knowing what they were. When the food was brought to us, she spilled it directly on my leg and didn’t even acknowledge it.||||The next morning, I stepped outside briefly, then came back in to ask about getting a taxi. The woman at the desk looked at me with disgust and asked, “Do you stay here?” I was staying in one of their most expensive rooms. Her tone was rude and accusatory. I asked how to get a taxi — she said nothing, then walked off and disappeared for 15 minutes.||||The “concierge” service is a joke. The staff is untrained, unhelpful, and completely lacking in basic hospitality or respect. We spent thousands of dollars expecting boutique quality, and instead were met with contempt and chaos.||||If you value safety, service, or even just basic courtesy, avoid this hotel at all costs. It is absolutely not worth the money — and one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had...
