Ristoro Della Salute — Restaurant in Rome

Good service doesn’t make up for mediocre food. I do not understand the high reviews - I would rather eat at home than here. We were starving and this was the closest food establishment and though eating super close to landmarks is not ideal (tourist traps), this was a last resort choice. Often times, being starved makes food taste better but eating this food made us feel worse. I have had poor quality restaurant food before, but this establishment by far had some of the worst (and overpriced) food I have tried in Italy.

One dish ordered, a filled omelette, was burnt and tasted plain without any seasoning. The food did not look appealing nor did it taste good. I am not good at cooking, but I would rather burn my own omelette at home because at least I am saving 14 euros.

The Italia fruit shake was not a fruit shake but lukewarm milk probably blended with a slice of banana (that’s what it tasted like). The description stated it had apples, pears, and banana, but if you cannot taste any fruits, you cannot call it a fruit shake. So essentially, it was 8 euros for milk. The apple carrot ginger juice also was not any better, it was extremely sweet and I believe they forgot to add ginger because of how minimal tasting it was. I believe it was fresh, evidenced by the bit of foam left on top from being juiced but I think the foam could be removed to allow more room for juice and better presentation (the foam looked unappealing and a bit gross).

The toast on the breakfast plate was as hard as rock. You could try stab to stab a fork into it and it would not go through. No amount of butter and jam can fix bad bread. The anchovy pizza was not good either, the balance of cheese and sauce was poor, and not worth the (about) 18 euros. The carbonara pasta was probably the only half bad thing we ordered.

It was so disappointing with how kind and gracious the servers were, but good service does not override expensive bad food.

If you are desperate, understand that honestly this is not worth the money. There is so much better food for a more affordable...

Overrated – Average Food & Poor Service

We booked a table for dinner after seeing great reviews on Google and being drawn to the outdoor seating. However, when we arrived, the outdoor area was fully occupied, and given the heatwave, we didn't mind being seated indoors.

Unfortunately, the receptionist placed us at a rather odd table, far from other customers, and it was tilted. We requested a change to another table from a staff member who appeared to be the manager. Instead of responding verbally, he merely gave us a look and a gesture that we couldn’t understand. After waiting without a response for a while, I approached another young staff member, who pointed to the manager, implying we needed to wait for him. Eventually, he rearranged a table for us, but it was still quite distant from the other customers. Maybe I’m being sensitive, but it felt off, and I couldn’t help but sense a hint of unfriendliness, possibly even racism, given the manager's cold and impatient demeanor. Alternatively, perhaps something had gone wrong for him that day.

As for the food, we ordered a Caprese salad, red prawn risotto, and carbonara. The salad and risotto were average, but the carbonara was much saltier than any person would typically enjoy. To me, this restaurant seems more suited for tourists than for those seeking authentic Italian cuisine.

Regarding service, Daniel, who mainly attended to our table, was approachable and spoke fluent English—he was the only staff member who engaged with us without a strange expression. The receptionist was acceptable, but the rest of the staff could benefit from significant improvement.

Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Rome who is looking for great authentic food and a pleasant experience. There are definitely better...

Forget about Colosseum view. It’s a scam. We reserved a table for 8 pm however when we got there the hostess was very rude and told us nothing was available outside. I told her that we booked this place just for the view and she re assured us that as soon as anything becomes available we’ll be seated outside. The waitress inside was aggressively pushing us to order something and we got drinks. There was a girl that came after us and also asked for the outside after few minutes she left. Finally after 4 times waitresses asking about the food we got salad & Fettuccine. I went outside and checked if anything was available outside and to my surprise the same girl was sitting outside. So they were pushing on us to order food so we have no other choice but sitting inside. Food was cold and had a weird taste and the waitress noticed that we pushed that aside and were not eating so she came and took that away and didn’t even care that we didn’t like it and there was an issue. Later we saw the same plate on the next table for other guests and they realized that food was cold and also didn’t eat it. I was really frustrated and we told them we had only 1 night in Rome and was hoping to have good memories. After complaining they took out that Fettuccine from the bill.
