Going to Rome, you want to spend your time in the city and not in your room. That's why we looked for a basic, fairly priced stay. That's what Matilde offers at first sight. Looking back on our stay, there were some points of improvement however: our room wasn't ready when we checked in, despite our message an hour before arrival. Even though it only took about 10-15min to get the room ready, bit of a pity our airco didn't function well and I'm sure the owner knew that already since she had a questionable explanation. Had a terrible first night because of the heat, trying to sleep with a wet towel is not the basic comfort we were looking for. The back-up mobile AC was very loud but got us through nights 2 & 3. coming back after spending the day in the city, our room was cleaned but the door was left wide open. Might have been a small oversight, but it could have had serious consequences. Luckily it didn't. the fact that our room was cleaned on day 2 but not on day 3 didn't bother us too much, but it actually should have as it's included in the service we paid for.
About the location: quite nice looking house in a peaceful neighbourhood with plenty of parking spots nearby (parking for 3 days was not expensive - about 15€). Bus stations on walking distance to get you to the city centre.
Some adjustments and getting the basics right would make Matilde a solid place to stay for a...
Read moreThis lovely B&B is located in the beautiful area of Corso Trieste, close to the city centre. There are buses, trams & a metro station nearby which will take you to the Spanish Steps, train station, St Peter's square, Colosseum, etc - basically to almost all the sights in Rome. Buses take about 5 minutes to the train station and no more than 10 minutes to Piazza San Silvestro, which is close to the Spanish Steps. The B&B is in a quiet residential area with lovely parks nearby - Villa Paganini and Villa Torlonia. The owner, Michela is very helpful and the rooms are beautifully done up. Highly recommended for its quality and...
