I missed my flight! I got to stay at Hotel San Valentino July 29-31,2023. Beautiful room with a view of a church dome. Bathroom is good everything functioning well and very clean. It looks very updated and newly remodeled. Airconditioning is fine bed looks good. I’m a sheet person. Sheets are perfect crisp and smells clean , thick good quality cotton. Yasss! And I’m alone…🤣 I love it! Room is very clean and perfect for me. Love the iron sculpture of general Adriano wearing Versace outfit right outside my door. Fantastic sculptures throughout the building. Quiet room perhaps because I’m at the end corner on the 4rth floor. Wifi works I didn’t have any problems. I chose this hotel for its quiet neighborhood not a lot of tourist traffic even though it’s very close to the Vatican. It’s in one of those forgotten street only locals here. Transportations can’t beat it just around the corner is the Lepanto metro station not even 5 minutes walk. Restaurants in this neighborhood is very reasonable and low key very comfortable I had some really good ones. But the place that I love for Oso buco was closed on Sunday 🤯 I ate at Trastevere area last night supposed to be lots of new good restaurants, trendy but a waste of time they cater more to the tourist now. food is not good and not cheap anymore too. Maybe it was good 5 or 6 years ago. Ok. Love the hotel I’m surprised it’s inexpensive perhaps it suffered from the bad reviews during dinosaurs time. Good thing I didn’t read those reviews before I booked I was stressed out at the airport gotta have a hotel pronto missed my flight 🤩💕 2 more days in Rome! What a better place to get stuck. Oh! The reception they can smile a little and make a little effort to make one feel at ease perhaps a gentle female receptionist. With that said I could say they’re functional they connected me to my airport shuttle that totally helped me out and my wake up call in the morning. I like the guy on the night shift who doesn’t speak English but very kind. I asked him for recommendations with my broken up Italian and he hooked me up for directions and a place to eat when I asked him what I want to eat. In early morning, he helped me out to call a taxi and brought my luggage out and waited for the taxi with me outside. I felt bad I forgot to give him a tip I was stressed out to make my airport shuttle. Next time I won’t forget your tip when I come back. I’ll be back again for longer...
Read moreDisgusting, rude & without power. We opted to stay here for 5 nights while visiting Rome. Upon check in everything seemed normal. Once we made it to our room we discovered a dirty comforter on our bed and shoes marks as if someone has been stepping on the bedding. After checking out the shower I noticed that the ceilings are covered in mold and the toilet hardware was rusting. On our second night there we returned from an excursion ant 10pm and found that lobby & hallway lights were working but our room was pitch black. The lights & air conditioning were not working. Our television & certain power outlets would work though. This would lead many to believe a fuse was blown within the property. We went downstairs to alert the front desk and were blown off. He said it would be back soon. We went back to our room to sit in darkness for an hour until making our way back downstairs for an update. 3 other guests were also waiting for an update as they were experiencing the same issue. The man at the front desk was obviously overwhelmed and was getting zero feedback from his manager or the “electric company”. While we were waiting another couple was trying to check in and got into a heated argument with the man at the front desk where they yelled at each other for 5 minutes. After this settled down we asked the other employee that was down there for an update and he scoffed at us & told me to call the electric company for myself. We went back up to our rooms to attempt to sleep but could not due to the employees sitting outside our window and smoking & being loud. Our power did not come back on until 5:30am. I have tried to reach out to the hotel multiple times for some type of refund, at least for one night and they have called me a liar & refused to refund. They also state that this was an outage in the area and not a fuse blown however all other bars, restaurants and hotels in the area had power. The street lights were also on all night. The hotel lobby and hallways also had power & were not the emergency lights like the hotel has tried to claim. DO...
Read moreI stayed at the Hotel San Valentino for a week while vacationing in Rome. The staff is professional, friendly, and very helpful. I received many good ideas for restaurants and transportation from them. My room was clean and spacious; housekeeping was always on top of things and friendly. The TV and air conditioning were stellar, and the room had a small refrigerator and safe.||Next door to the hotel is a nice little neighborhood cafe that I loved, and restaurants and pizzerias of various caliber and price are scattered around the vicinity. The entire area feels more like “normal” Rome than “tourist” Rome, which I found appealing. ||The hotel is one small block away from the Lepanto Metro stop. I regularly hopped on the Metro and traveled a few stops to have lunch or dinner near the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, even Piazza de Popolo. (Still can’t figure out why Piazza de Popolo isn’t packed with tourists, btw; Santa Maria de Popolo Church is gorgeous, and a few Euros will get you a quick snack or lunch of arancini at nearby cafes.)||San Valentino’s proximity to the Metro station is only one of its conveniences. A front desk staff member was kind enough to point out a city bus line that stops at about the same location as the Lepanto Metro stop; I used the bus to get to the center of Trastevere for 1.5 Euro. In addition, the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica aren’t far by foot. I’m a bit decrepit, so it felt like a long slog, but I made the hike at least twice, so it’s do-able. (You can travel from the Lepanto Metro stop to the Ottaviano stop, which cuts the distance to the Vatican a bit, but I didn’t feel it was worth 1.50E to travel one quick subway stop.)||For the record, the San Valentino is adhering to Italy’s strict covid protocols. You’ll be able to pick out the hotel’s entrance from the end of the block by spotting the hand sanitizer that sits on a little stand just...
