For the past six years, MiVa has held a special place in our hearts as the epitome of fine dining in Rome. Its quaint ambiance, impeccable service, and delectable cuisine have consistently left us longing for more. However, tonight marked a stark departure from the cherished memories we've cultivated over the years.
Entering MiVa, our anticipation swiftly morphed into disbelief as we were greeted by the male hostess/waiter with astonishing rudeness and aggression. Despite our reservation, we were met with hostility. Only after two affirmations of our reservation did he reluctantly permit us entry, relegating us to the closed terrace.
When it came time to settle the bill, I voiced my displeasure at his behavior, only to be met with further aggression. His dismissive retort of "I don't care about you! Leave!" was not only shocking but entirely unacceptable.
As someone who has been a loyal patron of MiVa for years, I am deeply saddened by this experience. It is disheartening to think that such behavior may be condoned or even encouraged by the restaurant's management. A restaurant is not just about the food; it's about the entire dining experience, which includes the service and atmosphere. And tonight, MiVa fell drastically short.
I sincerely hope that this incident does not reflect the overall policy of MiVa restaurant, as it would be a grave disservice to the loyal customers who have supported them over the years. Nonetheless, until there is a clear indication of change, I cannot in good conscience recommend MiVa to anyone seeking a pleasant dining...
Read moreMiVa was the perfect place to land after a long hot day exploring Rome. Interior was 'cool' in both senses of the word! The staff were all really friendly and our terrible Italian skills were no problem, easy to use English here a friendly, relaxed atmosphere all round. Chef Andrea Miseri even took his time to talk us through the menu and describe the (often locally sourced) ingredients. The menu was full of subtle twists on classic dishes, lots of great surprises but nothing freaky for the sake of it, just gorgeous and intriguing taste combinations.
I took delicious cacio e uova (first time for me) with French beans in arabiata sauce as a starter, and cacio e pepe with zucchini flower (!) as a main. Both dishes were full of flavour and contrasts, beautifully prepared and presented. The pasta itself was fresh, and I really savoured the rare homemade texture and taste. Happiness on a plate!
The wine was a similarly superb experience, we ordered a bottle of Cesanese that none of us had tried and before long we ordered a second. The meal was rounded off with with great coffee and a small owl of sliced plums sprinkled with salt. Salted plums? Sounds odd until you've tried it! They absolutely hit the spot. Magic.
Perfect evening after a wild and hot day running around the city. Highly...
Read moreDon't come here if your in any sort of rush was a 2 hour visit, also 2/3 of the menu was unavailable. Beautiful atmosphere, lovely restrooms, wonderful staff. Showed up at 6pm and the appetizers tacos took 45 minutes to serve and were bland, a spicy mayo would of really helped boost the fresh ingredients and create a balanced tasty meal. Sat there for another 50 minutes for our main dishes we got spaghetti carbanerra that was tasty but the pasta was a bit under if your looking for al dente, same undercooked pasta issue with with the spaghetti scampi where the sauce was a great texture but fairly bland and overpriced with essentially on one scampi served as super thin slices so the texture was lost I'd of prefer a few little chunks and the visual red and green "seasonings" that looked pretty we no more than...
