Just returned from visiting all 4 sites in a day. A first time experience to the Eternal City and what an eye opener. A must do on the bucket list. After some prep work from fellow trip advisers, we bought the Omnia Roma card, although not cheap it does cut out all the long queues. We utilised the cards to the max of the 3 days using the metro as transport. We made the mistake of buy through viator, however if bought direct from Omnia, you get an initial free bus ride to one of three collection card points by showing your booking reference number to the driver. This saves a lot of hassle and expense in collecting the card and gives you more sight seeing time. A good pair of walking shoes is advisable. |Make sure you book the Vatican, Sistene a day or two ahead and book an early start to avoid the queues and guarantee a place for the day. Shoulders and knees should be covered but you could get away with shorts just above the knees. Bring your own water bottle, there are strategically located free water fountains. We downloaded your own free audio guide in advance or you could pay for the numerous tour guides hounding you enroute to the Vatican. Bring a spare battery pack. Have a good breakfast before visiting the Vatican and Sistene, we spent a solid 3 hours there in the morning had lunch at a local cafe and fast tracked ourselves to St Peters for 2 hours. To utilise our second free entry, the Castle de Angelo was a 20minute away. The castle was an eye opener, with a free audio app with the tour , there are also ample photo opportunities with decent views of the Eternal City...
Read moreI stayed at St. Peter Vatican Rooms with my family for 3 nights.|Good thing about the rooms:|The room is spacious. |Check in and out were smooth. |Location is very close to the Vatican. |Free coffee. |Safe box, mini fridge & A/C are available|Value of money is a BARGAIN.|Ask Sara about the 2 greatest pasta and pizza restaurants in the area. They are really the best I have tried in Italy|A lot of decent and cheap stores, shops, and restaurants around. ||Things to notice before booking:|The gray covers on beds (see photos posted of the rooms) weren’t changed after the previous clients for us. They look a bit old and over used. But we didn’t use it and always took them off from the beds.| |The sheets weren’t changed on a daily basis although one of them - I accidentally put my shoe on it on the second day and got dirty.||The rooms are close to attractions of Rome (2-3 kilometers away), but since Rome needs a lot of walking (more than 10 km of walking everyday), each night when we were going back to the rooms, I felt the rooms are far like 20 km away as we were all tired.||No conditioner in the bathroom, Shampoos weren’t stocked. so I bought a small bottle of shampoo and conditioner from a nearby convenient store.||I personally don’t mind going there again for the value of money, but I will definitely stay more than 3 nights because Rome needs more to explore without...
Read moreWe booked a room at the St Peter Vatican Rooms due to the price and proximity to the metro & Vatican. We were expecting the place to look a little different to the pictures (as is usual when booking online) but were happily surprised when it was almost exactly as pictured!||||We had room no. 4, which was a double. It was modern and spacious, with a brilliant bathroom. There was aircon and a large screen TV, a fridge and a kettle. There is also a safe that works via a key. There is a lovely communal kitchen area with a coffee machine.||||The rooms are within what I'd call an apartment block accessible from the main street via a large wooden door. They are centered around a courtyard and accessible via stairs or a old-fashioned lift, which didn't feel particularly sturdy but managed us and our bags just fine! It wasn't too loud at night in the area, which was nice!||||The only slightly downside is that, as this is a small establishment with not many rooms, there is no reception. We had to get in contact with the manager (Marcelo - who was really helpful and nice!) to arrange a time to check in, and spent a nervous few minutes on arrival waiting outside the big apartment doors hoping all was going to be alright! It was, and I'd definitely recommend staying...
