Originally we had booked for a group of 4 at Vatican Space Rooms (if you Google you can see the photos are vastly different). Before knowing we wouldn’t be staying here, I had emailed for 4 single beds, however upon realising only 2 of us would be flying, I advised them to ignore that as the 2 King Sized beds on the website were sufficient. ||I turned up and Blackpool came to mind. We had one double bed and a set of bunk beds. The room was not big enough for 4 people, just about enough for 2. ||Realistically we were not in the room much, however if you were a couple who had expectations on what the room was going to be like I would avoid. The breakfast was 1 x coffee and 1 x croissant at a cafe a short walk away. ||Good points I’d say, the room was clean, however the bins weren’t emptied, the air con didn’t work and the heating was on full throughout the 4 days. ||The electricity did go off and it was difficult to advise anyone as there wasn’t a reception, but I did have Claudia’s number who came over and sorted the problem. However an hour without electricity, sitting in the dark for your birthday when you want to get ready, isn’t great. ||In conclusion if you want the ‘cheap and cheerful’ hostel-type hotel and you aren’t going to be in your room much, then it isn’t bad. Read moreBooked for 2 adults and 3 kids, 15,10 and 8 years old. Arrived to find room is only 9ft x 15ft and once two single beds were added, one of which was in walkway by front door, there still wasn't enough for 5 of us and there is literally no other room to even walk around. Had to sleep 3 in the double bed. Fan in bathroom didn't work, so room smelt terrible, bathroom door had broken lock, and Aircon unit was a waste of time as didn't cool the room at all. Breakfast was in a cafe, 3 streets away, around a 5 minute walk. Could only have hot drink and croissant, and nothing more. Even though photos showed fresh juices and fresh fruit. Booked through booking.com but property wants CASH on arrival. Now we know why!! Wouldn't give a refund after one night and had little or no help from booking.com as paid cash. Tried to blame us for booking 5, even though it clearly states it was ok on the website. Manager was rude on the phone and denied things were not working, even though onsite cleaner/help was with us and could clearly see issues we had. Have contacted booking.com to start a full complaint and to try and get this property removed form their site. One star is far too high for this property, but no option to...
Read moreThis is my first visit to Rome. I had no idea what to expect or even much Italian. I booked everything in advance except this place, and now I can see why.||This place is way overpriced for what it is - cheap and cheerful. They promise the moon but don't deliver.||They promise a safe, for instance, but the safe is broken. There is no way to cook meals except a foul-smelling microwave. Although it's warm and humid outside, the room is not cooled. At night, though, the room is cold, so remember your thermals and an extra blanket.||What can I say? It's a basic place to stay. Ahmed nearby speaks English, which helps. Claudia helps to keep the place clean, and also speaks English. But the room can't keep out the noise, smells or humidity. This means I got 4 hours of sleep per night, at best. And for that, I paid over 100 euros a night - CASH IN ADVANCE. ||If you can afford to, stay elsewhere. This place is for the desperate. It's a step above...
