B&B Portanova — Hotel in Salerno

Salerno was recommended over Naples, mainly as a staging city to access Amalfi Coast. A simple, direct ferry ride of 40 minutes to Amalfi and 65 mins to Positano made this ideal. All the recommendations proved correct on this front! ||What was more eye opening was B&B Portanova and the actual city of Salerno. Elena arranged for a driver to pick us up at Naples airport and drive us about 50 mins to Salerno. A bit of a hike up stairs to B&B where Elena welcomed us to a/c and a quick tour of our 2 bedroom apartment, as we were delayed getting in and it was late at night. ||Beds were comfortable, a/c worked well and by european standards, the space was big, with more than enough room for a family of four. ||Upon awakening, fresh croissants, yogurt, breads, coffee, fruits and juices were waiting for us before we started our journeys. ||Aside from a slanted bathroom ceiling where an occasional head bump occurred and the need to sit in the "shower" bathtub, so you don't spray water everywhere, this was a perfect location in the city.||About half mile walk to ferry terminal to go to Amalfi Coast. Plaza directly in front of B&B with access to shopping, many food options and about 15 min walk directly to train station. ||Elena was very accommodating making sure we had everything we could need or want. She gave us great recommendations for food, where at Ciccioformaggio we had our best meal during our week long visit in Italy. ...

We stayed in Salerno for a week and this place had the perfect location downtown close to shopping, restaurants, coast, and old Town. Be prepared for lots of stairs to get up to the apartment.
