Appearances look great, but take into account these little things as our experience in the end fell way short of expectations and we ultimately very much regretted going there (and even left early, even if it was prepaid)! Amonst others:||1) Numerous pictures show a modern room with wooden floors. Ours was anything but that, including a carpet which had not been deep cleaned in a while (and thus contributed to a foul odour in our room for the whole stay) and no air conditioning, which was apparently mentioned in the small print in our booking confirmation but resulted in us not sleeping well as it was way to hot, even with the windows open (they did give us crappy fans but the cooling did not make up for the noisiness of the fans).||2) The restaurant literally closes at 845pm, which is fine for some but not for us. We prefer to feed our kid(s) earlier and once he/she/they are down, then have a bit of us time and go for dinner once the evening routine is over, which means that on most days, we would miss the 845pm cutoff and effectively had to pay for two dinners. Keeping it open until, say, 930pm is surely not unreasonable.||3) There is absolutely no flexibility to their rules and in their setup. A blanket policy is a normal starting point but in some instances, including a bit of common sense, goes a long way. For example, we have a child that is pre-nursery (about to start) and in the phase where separation anxiety in very prominent. So an adaptation period is required and normal for our child to want to stay at the kids club on her own, yet they absolutely forbid parents from staying with children, even if for a few days for a while to facilitate the transition for the child.||I could go on and add a few others, but in short, the price point is way too high for what they offer and a firenly staff only goes so far to compensate for things like the above and for what is fundamentally very outdated...

Read moreA wonderful experience at Cavallino Bianco in Ortisei – the perfect family destination in the heart of the Dolomites. Beautifully located near the ski lifts and nestled in the charming town of Ortisei, famous for its wood sculpture tradition, Cavallino Bianco is a gem for families traveling with children.
Everything here is designed with families in mind. Whether you’re looking for winter adventures outdoors or indoor entertainment, the hotel offers a wide array of thoughtful options. From educational activity trails to creative play areas, the programs are perfectly tailored for children aged 5 to 13 – just like mine. It’s the kind of place where both parents and children can truly relax, have fun, and feel cared for.
Housed in the town’s historic post office building, the hotel is managed with exceptional attention to detail. I don’t know who the owner is, but I’d like to offer my compliments – their vision and ability to unlock the full potential of this place is impressive. The atmosphere combines heritage with comfort, elegance with warmth.
The cuisine is another highlight. We are in Italy, after all – but you can clearly feel the Austrian influences. Every meal is prepared with care, showcasing quality ingredients and a refined selection that respects both tradition and seasonality.
A particularly special mention goes to the Romanian staff members I had the pleasure of meeting. Răzvan, the hotel maître, is a true professional with deep knowledge of fine wines and carefully curated spices – an absolute joy to talk to. And Grigore, the administrative director, brings exceptional dedication, respect, and professionalism to everything he does, proudly representing his homeland, Romania, with grace and integrity.
An exceptional experience that I would recommend wholeheartedly to any family looking for a refined yet joyful holiday in...
