To start with the good. ||When we arrived a man took our bags for us as you have to check in at a different hotel. ||The hotel is very clean and the cleaners very pleasant and always said good morning. ||The hotel is in a nice position away from the main area so it is quieter. ||The bad||There were two small bowls with two gorgeous goldfish as decoration in the hotel. The bowls were too small with no oxygenation and the fish were gulping at the surface. Why be cruel to animals for decoration purposes? ||The lake view is not really. It is a glimpse at the side of a roof. Save your money. ||Room number 4 has the most awful WiFi and it made it impossible to do simple things like check in for a flight or research bus timetables. ||The only water available in the hotel are small plastic bottles from a vending machine. As we were having to buy many of these due to the heat and needing to hydrate we decided to use some water put out at breakfast to fill a reuseable water bottle. As I filled the bottle the woman shouted at us. I was trying to explain that using so many small plastic bottles was not good but she would not listen at all. Kept telling me I could not take things from breakfast. Suggestion- if you are that upset by people taking water from breakfast perhaps a water fountain would be a good idea. If it is the money that is bothering you then charge a euro extra per night on the room rate. But please stop the excessive plastic use. Also do not shout at your guests in front of everyone at breakfast for filling a water bottle. We are here for a relaxing holiday. ||The shower is so small you cannot bend down to pick up your shampoo bottle and there is no shelf.||So all in all the hotel is fine but lacks the ability to be...
Read moreA very bad experience, unfortunately. To get to the hotel you have to drive through the historic center, which is actually a pedestrian area, with very narrow alleys and you have to pray not to run into anyone. The hotel staff did NOT communicate this extremely important aspect to us. When we went to check in, on a Saturday, we came across 2 completely uninformed and arrogant people. We were then told that the next day, Sunday, IT IS FORBIDDEN to leave or enter the historic center by car between 2 PM and 8 PM. Basically, we were stuck in that center! We asked for information about alternative transportation options, since we had come specifically to Garda, to go to GardaLand, with our child, but they said that they did not know how much it costs and if public transportation goes there. The access alley to the hotel is a very steep slope, impossible to walk with luggage, unless you come by car, again information that was not communicated to us.
Uncomfortable bathroom, the door could not be closed or opened when using the toilet and there was no holder in the shower or sink to place shampoo, shower gel, etc.
Nothing to complain about in terms of cleanliness, the breakfast was not very varied, but good, and the ladies in the kitchen...
Read moreI've stayed in Hotel Villa Maria with my mum for two nights and we really enjoyed the place. The biggest advantage of the hotel was that it is placed near the Jamaican Beach and Grotte di Catullo. The paths nearby are not as crowded as in the city center (thanks to this we could take a walk to the park and relax in the peaceful neighborhood). Sirmione is not very big, so it took only 10 minutes on foot to get to the castle and the city center where all the restaurants and bars are. Since Hotel Villa Maria is on a hill, it was a little exhausting to walk there from the center with suitcases, but without an extra luggage it was perfectly fine. The breakfasts were tasty, but there was not a big choice of products (ham, cheese, pastry and sweets, no eggs, vegetables etc). The room was spacious, very clean, and the view of the lake was beautiful. There was also a machine with drinks in the hall, which was convenient as there was no shops nearby. Wifi worked only in the hall, not in the rooms, but this information was included in the description of the hotel, so there was no surprise. In conclusion, we recommend both Sirmione and...
