Kalò RoomsTropea — Hotel in Tropea

I must admit I have been fooled by the previous reviews of this place... 5 stars out of seven reviews seemed too good to be true. I am trying to be honest when I grant Kalo Rooms 3 stars, because the first impression when you arrive to the place is of total disappointment and disbelief. The place is located in a horrible block building outside the city centre of Tropea, not very far from it though, so the problem is not the location. Forget, or ignore, everything you read about the place, it is not a cozy place, it is small flat in a noisy residential building of poor quality which has been renovated for this purpose.

Now... the 3 rooms are fully renovated, and they are clean, with everything you need to spend a few (not many) nights while staying in Tropea, but this will not be a pleasant experience overall. And in my opinion, and having stayed in other places in Tropea, this option is overpriced and diverts from the Tropea experience.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kalò Rooms! It's super close to the train station (just 6 minutes on foot) and only about 9 minutes to the beautiful old town of Tropea. Check-in was easy and hassle-free — I got two remote keys, one for the building and one for the entrance to Kalò rooms, and the room key was left/waiting for us on the reception desk. The room is really clean, modern and the owner is very nice! The only issue for me was the managing of expectations, on their website it says they want "to give a new life to the house of our dear grandparents" which you would imagine to be a house and not a three-bedroom flat in an apartment building. Also, in Booking says it has garden views, which you do have, to the house in front of the building block. It would be a great option if it was cheaper, but to pay almost 100 euros for a stay in a noisy apartment building is a bit...
