I had the most wonderful experience at this incredible Jewelry store. I came in to get a modification made to a very special charm that means a lot to me. This is not “worthwhile” work for the store as it is fine work and will not make them much money. But instead of turning me away like everyone else, out of the goodness of their hearts they made the attachment and now I can wear the charm around my neck. While I was there waiting I was able to chat to the owners and learn about this history of the store. Its so incredible and special, and at risk of being lost. As a community of travelers coming to these store owners homes in Venice, it’s important that we spend money at this store to help protect and preserve the history, knowledge and craft of jewelry making that they learnt from their grandfather, Jovon who opened the store in 1934. This is more than shopping, its political and it’s helping preserve Italian history. I work in Agriculture and see the same risk of lost knowledge if customers are not willing to vote with their dollar. We are also losing a culture of stone milled flour, and like this jewelry shop it is more important than ever to support hand made artisan products that are authenticated by tradition. If not, we, all of us, all over the world, will lose our sovereignty and be slaves to global companies such as Amazon. Small decisions count. So please when in Venice spend some money on a gift at this shop that will save history and last you a life time. You’ll have a great time in the store too. Incredible experience,...
Read moreI am writing to share a deeply unpleasant experience my mother and I had at this store. As soon as we entered and began browsing, a man with glasses approached us and pointed out the cameras on the ceiling, making us feel extremely uncomfortable. We decided to leave the store and went into the a new jewelry store next door. However, to our surprise, the man followed us and spoke to a lady in the store in the local language. Immediately, the lady became nervous and started staring at us.
We don’t know what the man said to her, but their behavior made us feel like they suspected us of theft. We chose not to confront the man due to the language barrier and wanted to report the incident to the police but couldn’t locate them. Hence, we are sharing our experience here.
To the gentleman who treated us this way: Your actions were deeply offensive and disrespectful. We came to your store as potential customers, but you immediately made us feel unwelcome and under suspicion. Following us into another store and further spreading your unfounded suspicions was completely unacceptable.
We understand that you might not have understood us because we were speaking in our own language, but that does not justify your behavior. Judging people based on appearance and language is not only unfair but also harmful. We hope you will reflect on your actions and strive to treat all customers with the respect and dignity they deserve. No one should be made to feel like a criminal just because of how they look or the...
Read moreThis store has a lot of unique and beautiful jewelry, including outstanding cameos, you should consider this place if you are looking for a unique jewelry for yourself or as a gift to others.
Marco and his wife were super helpful and helped to choose a few unique pieces for me and my wife. Marco is able to see what would fit his clients and what would look great, his advices were very appreciated.
It goes without saying that Marco is a great specialist of his family’s craft, and provide a lot of insights into jewelry and what works best for each certain case (like harder metals for cameo and softer ones for coral and many other important things) - so you can be sure that your jewelry would stay in great shape for a few generations.
I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for unique jewelry, and for reasonable price. We would definitely be back for more next time in Venezia, or maybe...
