HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE SEATING AND ORDERING SYSTEM ISN'T VERY CLEAR. DO NOT COME AND EAT HERE. We went upstairs to find seats and was told very rudely (girl with dark curly hair) that my family of 5 cannot sit down in one table because it was too small. Meanwhile a family of Italians were in another table and guess what? FIVE OF THEM. We were also told that we were not allowed to eat upstairs because we needed to order there to be able to do that. My husband had just brought a plate of risotto that he had ordered downstairs. It was the SAME RESTAURANT WITH THE SAME MENU. The only thing we can think of was that they were priced more upstairs because the service charge is different. The issue could have been easily fixed if they told us that we needed to pay extra and we would have been happy to do that. We suggested as much since we hadn't yet paid. But it was obvious that customer service is lacking and the server lacked the initiative and common sense to solve the problem. The guy who was serving my husband was a bit annoyed that we had to ask for take away containers. However, he did try to work it out when he saw how upset I was over the situation. His attempts were refused by the same colleague, the same rude server, who absolutely refused to do anything about it. As far as the food, the lasagne was soggy and the risotto had very little sea food. The fried Calamari was good. Save your time and money and eat somewhere else.
EDIT: I went upstairs with my children and waited to be served. The server looked at us and then looked away. After a short time, we did go sit down as we were not greeted, so assumed we should just sit down. Then when she approached, she did not say anything other than YOU CAN'T SIT HERE. We were not bumping into anything. The family next to us were all full grown adults, yet all five were allowed to sit there. I had three children with me and my husband. Yes, one of your servers downstairs was trying to work things out with that rude girl, but she absolutely refused. We were NOT given the offer to sit upstairs as implied in your response. We suggested that we were happy to pay the extra charge with service, but the upstairs server refused, saying we already ordered our food and couldn't sit upstairs. Anyway. I stand by what I said. Your service is horrible, and the food isn't something to...
Read moreMe and my family went touring in Venice for a day, and if you’ve ever been there you’ll know you can’t sit down anywhere without getting charged. We were not only looking for a place to rest our legs, but also a bite to eat.
We came into this nice little cafe and were greeted by friendly staff who were patient as we choose our food. I got a ham+ mozzarella sandwich thing (as shown in pictures) for €3, and oh my god it was one of the best things I’ve ever tried. It was packed with perfectly melted cheese+ some ham surrounded by the softest layer of bread. On the outside, there was a fish finger type crust which went perfectly with the insides of the sandwich.
My mum got an aranchini, and considering we weren’t in Sicily we didn’t expect to be that great, but it went through the roof expectation level. Ngl, it wasn’t the best arancini I’ve ever tried but it actually tasted like one and not just a rice ball like all the other aranchini in Italy.
For drinks, both my parents got an espresso which was apparently very nice. Me and my brother both got a liptons peach ice tea, and were delighted how they served that.
I was a bit disappointed when a group of people came in and took the last of the ham+ cheese sandwiches, as I wanted another but I got over it.
Lastly, they had a bathroom+ seating, which were both free of charge and pleasant.
Overall, this is a lovely place with reasonable prices for a little bite or a bigger meal whenever you’re feeling hungry and I would...
Read moreA small place in the centre of Venice, tucked away near the Rialto Bridge. Downstairs is a counter service place, while upstairs is a restaurant. I’ve visited before a few years ago and kind of knew what to get. The Mozzarella en Carozza is the thing to get here. A white bread sandwich of mozzarella and, if you want it, prosciutto, deep fried to a golden goodness and made fresh throughout the day. Its gooey, tasty and fills a hole. They also have various arancini and other fried bites to get. This is all down the right hand side of the counter. On the left hand side are platters of various fried fish – prawns, calamari, etc, as well as seafood salads and risottos. These are reheated to order and served as a plate – a little more expensive at around €12 a plate. Having tried both, next time I’ll be sticking to the finger food and sandwiches. The Calamari is good, but not great, and the octopus salad was similar in quality. Good, but nothing to write home about. However, the Mozzarella en Carozza? I could eat those all day and they’re only a couple of...
