The first time we visited was three year ago and we were impressed at the price, cleanliness and attentiveness of the owner. So, she we decided to book a return visit to Italy, we thought that we would head back to Alla Casa di Lucia.||What a mistake we made, firstly we waited out on the street in the heat for 20 minutes after buzzing the doorbell and speaking to the owners daughter. What we then got was a very frosty welcome, complete the opposite of what we had before. Basically, here's your room and I don't speak any English! Funny, as I remember having a good conversation with the owner she we first visited and he was very helpful previously.||We spent a very hot night with very little air conditioning and after complaining that evening that the rolm was too hot we heatd nothing from the owner, presumably to keep the cost down of the ac. We agim complained about the ac in the morning and the owner reduced the temperature. With the ac unit being some 10 meters from the room this made little difference with just a slight cool draft at times.||We then stated that we wanted to leave the b&b to get a better rights sleep and funny, the owner no longer speaks English!||I ended up paying for two rooms this night and the owner soon advertised this room for rent hence getting paid twice for the room. We moved to the Residenza Borsari down the road which we should have stayed in the first place as it was amazing and they really looked after us with a wonderful room and breakfast. Nothing like the Spa Shop Processed breakfast we got at the Allla Casa di Lucia||I don't mind that we wanted to stay somewhere better with proper a.c., but the owner made us feel unwelcome from the start and I don't feel this place deserves the tripadvisor reviews it gets, hence the bad review. Shame, as that first time we visited it was great and now I feel that the owner is just in it for the quick money and not to give people a good experience in Verona, a city...
Read moreTravelling to Verona for the marathon I was looking for something cheap & cheerful close to the Arena where the marathon starts and finishes. The B&B Alla Casa di Lucia is very close by, only a few hundred metres or so, which was ideal. It is located in an apartment block which I rather liked as I felt I was living more like a local than I would be staying in a full hotel.||||Upon my arrival I was met by Massimo who quickly showed me to my room. No hassle or fuss which was nice as I was tired from the day spent travelling. My room was basic but clean and what I expected. Although the bathroom wasn't ensuite it was opposite my room across a hallway and didn't really bother me.||||The breakfast was very good with more choice than I had expected. You share a large table with the other guests which I rather liked as it was very social. Couldn't fault this in any way.||||The only issue really was the noise from the street which could be disturbing, however it didn't disturb my sleep as it died down a lot later in the evening. Also the street, Via Roma was pedestrianised so no traffic noise to worry about.||||All in all, for the price, location & breakfasts I would rate the B&B All Casa di Lucia...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for two nights and wanted somewhere close to the arena that was reasonably priced and we found this great B&B. Lucia was very welcoming, remembered that it was out wedding and provided us with the wine I had requested. As our room was ready (10.30am) we were able to leave our cases, quickly freshen up before checking out what Verona has to offer. |The B&B is on the 3rd floor of an apartment block, taking up the left side. There is a small life, but watch the step when you exit on the 3rd floor. The B&B is very clean, our room did not have a view, but who cares about that when you’re exploring? You’re there to explore the city, not sit in your room. A 2 mi ute walk and you’re at the arena! The train station is s 10 minute walk away and there’s plenty of bus stops next to the arena. Perfect location, wonderful B&B and if you’re visiting Verona and don’t want a 5* place, then this is the place for you. We had breakfast included in our price, but if not there’s an amazing cafe just a 1 minute walk away called Caffe Dersut, all the locals were in there, so it speaks...
