ONSEN review: entrance ¥500 (free for the hotel guests), very friendly staff. The reception where you pay is at the 2nd floor, here you can get your onsen stamp as well. Shampoos provided, you need to bring your own towel, there are lockers and parking. They have two different onsen, at the 1st and 3rd floor. When I visited, during the morning time it was 1st floor male - 3rd floor female and during the night time the opposite, 1st floor female - 3rd floor male. It was night time so I went to the 3rd floor. The tub was large and they try to have some kind of natural setting, stones around the bath, some plants in the middle of the washroom which has 6 places to wash, there are big photos of waterfalls and the water flows in the tub falling from above from two tubes which are covered in bamboo to give the more natural feeling. If you sit under the falling water it can massage your back. The water was not very hot, the attached thermometer wrote around 36 degrees Celsius (average onsen water temperature in Beppu is around 40-42 degrees Celsius) but it gave a nice silky feeling on your skin afterwards. On a weekday night there was just one more person while I was there who left so I had the whole place for myself. Finally there are hair dryers and cotton buds. A nice experience if you don't mind the water not...
Read moreWe only stayed one night at this hotel in a twin bed room.|This hotel is located right across the street from the Beppu Station, so was very convenient to get there with suitcases.|This is an older hotel so rooms were clean, but worn. The beds and pillows were hard, but I guess it's typical of Japanese hotels. We received a nice bag of toiletries and a Yukata to wear to the onsen.|The onsen is located in the building next door, but is accessed directly from reception on the second floor. There is an indoor and outdoor onsen on the first floor, and another indoor onsen on the third floor. The men and women alternate daily between the first and third floors. I went to the third floor indoor onsen, which was a large one lined with rocks. There are cleaning products to use before entering the onsen. The adjoining room has lockers and hairdryers.|We bought the buffet breakfast for 600 yen, which had a moderate amount of both western and...
Read moreI only accessed the bath of this hotel, as a convention with another hotel, so my review only pertains the bath. The staff was okay but they barely checked I was actually from the other hotel. From the 2nd floor lobby, you can access the bath directly through the elevator- depending on the day women are on the first or third floor, I accessed the third floor. I went on Monday morning around 8am and there was no one, only two ladies who left when I was entering. The room has lockers, hairdryer, mirror/vanity and some basic amenities. The bath temperature was around 38 degrees, not super hot compared to other Beppu onsen, but pleasant. You could sit under a pipe and get your back massaged by falling water, which was relaxing. There were body soap and shampoo in the bath, and around 8 shower heads. I think you need to bring...
