This is the kind of place you stay in when you’re spending all day sightseeing and touring around the various photo hotspots. It doesn’t really have a common area and can be a little on the small side but if you’re using it as just a base then that’s completely fine!||I stayed in the private dorm. It had 2 bunks but it was just me. The walls were a bit thin but that worked in my favour as I ended up waking up earlier than anticipated due to some other guys leaving early, and got to the pagoda before the real crowds arrived. However had that not been my plan I’d have been annoyed!!||The room has a heater/air con unit which you can control (instructions provided). It was cosy and I was a perfect temperature. Bed was comfortable. Nice fluffy towels also provided. ||The location was great. There are people complaining about it not being very close to Lake Kawaguchiko (true) but when you’re in the area you have to decide whether you’re prioritising the pagoda (in which case you need to be there early to beat the crowds) or the lake. If it’s the former, this hostel is ideally located 20mins walk away. You can’t really have it both ways.||One disadvantage the hostel had was that it didn’t really have any kitchen stuff (other than toaster, fridge and microwave) so no proper food prep-ing. This is fine if you’re here for 1 or 2 nights but if you plan on staying in the area longer I’d find somewhere else.||I loved this hostel and thought it was great for a place to crash. Would...

Read moreUpon my arrival, I was greeted by friendly staff members. Even better, they allowed me to check in earlier, although it was not 3pm yet. I liked this place as the check-out was later than several places in Japan - 11am.
WiFi was good. Toilets and bathrooms were clean. There were free coffee and tea. Staff members spoke excellent English.
The beds were not really assuring of any privacy, but with the curtains, privacy was good. The weird part was the hanging out area was too near to the beds. Hence, forget about afternoon rest.
The hostel is on the 2nd floor. Easy to find. It is near to Honcho 2, the place to snap iconic photos of Fuji, if it ever shows up.
Oh ya, Fuji can be viewed from the hanging out area too.
In the evening, guests were left on their own. There would be no staff members to assist us for anything.
Even though the hanging out area was noisy when I was there, by evening, it was quiet. There was nothing to. Interrupt good sleep. But the room light was never turned off. Thank goodness I had my eye cover.
When I came back the next morning, before checking out, the mood in the hostel was different. I think the owner was there, and he looked upset over something. It kinda kill the mood to hang around until checking out time. Moreover, the staff members were busy cleaning, there was no convenient place to sit and enjoy my free coffee. So, I checked...
