This is the kind of place you stay in when you’re spending all day sightseeing and touring around the various photo hotspots. It doesn’t really have a common area and can be a little on the small side but if you’re using it as just a base then that’s completely fine!||I stayed in the private dorm. It had 2 bunks but it was just me. The walls were a bit thin but that worked in my favour as I ended up waking up earlier than anticipated due to some other guys leaving early, and got to the pagoda before the real crowds arrived. However had that not been my plan I’d have been annoyed!!||The room has a heater/air con unit which you can control (instructions provided). It was cosy and I was a perfect temperature. Bed was comfortable. Nice fluffy towels also provided. ||The location was great. There are people complaining about it not being very close to Lake Kawaguchiko (true) but when you’re in the area you have to decide whether you’re prioritising the pagoda (in which case you need to be there early to beat the crowds) or the lake. If it’s the former, this hostel is ideally located 20mins walk away. You can’t really have it both ways.||One disadvantage the hostel had was that it didn’t really have any kitchen stuff (other than toaster, fridge and microwave) so no proper food prep-ing. This is fine if you’re here for 1 or 2 nights but if you plan on staying in the area longer I’d find somewhere else.||I loved this hostel and thought it was great for a place to crash. Would...

Mt. Fuji Hostel Michael's strikes a balance between affordability and convenience that is hard to beat. With competitive pricing and an excellent location, it's a solid choice for budget-conscious travelers.

One of the standout features of this hostel is its affordability. Given the proximity to Mount Fuji and the surrounding attractions, the rates are quite reasonable. This makes it an attractive option for those looking to explore the area without breaking the bank.

The location is another highlight. Situated conveniently near Mount Fuji, it provides easy access to the iconic peak and the many outdoor activities and cultural experiences in the region. For travelers seeking to make the most of their visit to this natural wonder, Mt. Fuji Hostel Michael's is an ideal base.

However, it's important to note that noise from other guests can be a potential drawback. If you're a light sleeper or easily disturbed by noise, it might be worth considering this aspect before booking. Some travelers have reported noise disturbances, so it's a good idea to bring earplugs or choose a private room if you're concerned about this.

In summary, Mt. Fuji Hostel Michael's offers an affordable and well-located option for those exploring the beauty of Mount Fuji and its surroundings. If you can overlook potential noise issues, it's a solid choice for budget travelers looking to experience this iconic...

Upon my arrival, I was greeted by friendly staff members. Even better, they allowed me to check in earlier, although it was not 3pm yet. I liked this place as the check-out was later than several places in Japan - 11am.

WiFi was good. Toilets and bathrooms were clean. There were free coffee and tea. Staff members spoke excellent English.

The beds were not really assuring of any privacy, but with the curtains, privacy was good. The weird part was the hanging out area was too near to the beds. Hence, forget about afternoon rest.

The hostel is on the 2nd floor. Easy to find. It is near to Honcho 2, the place to snap iconic photos of Fuji, if it ever shows up.

Oh ya, Fuji can be viewed from the hanging out area too.

In the evening, guests were left on their own. There would be no staff members to assist us for anything.

Even though the hanging out area was noisy when I was there, by evening, it was quiet. There was nothing to. Interrupt good sleep. But the room light was never turned off. Thank goodness I had my eye cover.

When I came back the next morning, before checking out, the mood in the hostel was different. I think the owner was there, and he looked upset over something. It kinda kill the mood to hang around until checking out time. Moreover, the staff members were busy cleaning, there was no convenient place to sit and enjoy my free coffee. So, I checked...

First time in a while to try a hostel, this one did not disappoint. It was very quiet so we could sleep well. We had the private room with our own mini fridge for snacks. The futons were comfy. The shared bath and toilets were sufficient for guests and very clean. We did not use the common area as we were out all day. But i had a peek at the common room window..it was a cloudy day sadly ao only bits of fuji were visible. But on a clear day i imagine it has a great view! The restaurant right across the street served great food. We liked everything we tried: tempura, katsu, noodles. About 3 min walk away was a 7-11 and about 7min in the other direction is a supermarket. Train station is 4 min away on foot. One morning we walked up to chureito pagoda, about 20 min to get there. The front desk ladies were very nice. The host was quite terse on our last day as we asked to keep oir bags while we had lunch (after check out).

🇬🇧 Review in English I recently stayed at this hotel accompanied by Antonio, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Even before our arrival, I felt pressured by the number of times the hotel contacted me to confirm our check-in time. I understand coordinating arrival, especially if after 8:00 PM, but the repeated messages felt excessive — almost like a threat. The check-in time is already clear in the reservation, and that level of insistence was simply not necessary. Once we arrived, we encountered serious cleanliness issues in the room. The dirt was evident, and I’ve attached photographic evidence. It wasn’t just unsightly — I had to go to a pharmacy to treat insect bites, which became a real health issue during the stay. I also emailed the hotel to report the situation and allow for a response, but I never received a reply. This lack of accountability is unacceptable. Considering the uncomfortable pressure before arrival, unsanitary conditions, no customer response, and a direct impact on my health, I cannot recommend this hotel under any circumstances.

I loved staying here and wish I had more time! Comfy beds, clean bathroom THE BEST LAUNDRY MACHINES! Close to a train station that accepts IC card, quiet and very local neighborhood with fantastic food at very backpacker friendly prices, and close to the Pagoda and the famous corner photo street. Honestly every street was a photo street. Michael, Sierra, and Kago have great local recommendations for food so ask them if you aren’t sure where to eat. Otherwise there’s a 7/11 near by! There are discounts coupons at the front desk for almost every attraction (ropeway, village entrance, FujiQ Highlands, onsen) in the area so just ask or look at the pamphlets. Only thing I wish they had was a kitchen to cook in, and larger common space, but otherwise it was great.
