Found this place from.Air BnB. Two nights spent here was very memorable. Can be easily reach by 10 minutes walk even in the dark of 7:00pm, just go straight down from the red Torii gate of Fuji-san Station. Greeted by Mai herself at the reception. The place designed in a modern Japanese style wooden theme, very clean and comfortable. It was more like a beautiful boutique hotel with only 4 rooms with different number of beds wirh fluffy bed covers. The wash basin, shower room and modern toilet separated from the bed room was not a problem as they have 3 sets of this in the house and we never bumped with other guest during our stays. The special bonus points were: 1. A common room upstairs facing the beautiful mount Fuji which usually empty where make our own tea coffee and all necessity are available to use anytime 24 hrs, not to forget the small snacks. Complementary delicious breakfast cooked by Mai in separate small Japanese style.cafe with tatami seating just in front of the door steps of the house. You can choose Western style set of waffle, sliced apple & banana complete with honey or chocolate spread, or Japanese style grilled salmon complete with rice, miso soup, salad & grilled potato which was too much for us. As usual, coffee...

Mai’s guesthouse is close to Mt. Fuji station (5mins walk downhill in a straight line) and is close to a number of great bars & restaurants (check out Yoshida!) with a 7/11 store also round the corner.
The guesthouse is very clean and modern. The traditional beds on tatami mats are incredibly comfortable, we slept soundly every night and noise is kept to a minimum by all guests (you get given slippers to walk around in).
The Chureito Pagoda was a lovely 30min walk away with plenty of opportunities to stop off en route to take scenic photos. We also hired bikes off Mai for 500 yen each and cycled to Lake Kawaguchi which was a great day out!
Mai kindly provides breakfast to her guests with a choice of Japanese breakfast (salmon, miso soup, rice, salad) or Western breakfast (waffles)
If you have the opportunity to stay at Mai’s guesthouse you will not be...
Read moreWe stayed at Maisan-chi guesthouse for two nights in September. Our room had a shared bath room (towel is not included, 100 Yen). Room is quite big and bright. From the guesthouse it is a 20 minute walk to the Chureito Pagoda, from which you can have beautiful views of Mt Fuji.||||Drawback is that the place is quite noisy, especially when someone takes a shower in the early morning. Please take care that you don't arrive between 12.30 and 15.00, because the guesthouse will be closed then.||||Fujiyoshida: there is nothing much going on in this town. When we were there (September), almost all restaurants were closed. ||||||Directions: we came from Kyoto, took Shinkansen to Mishima. From there it is a 75 minute bus drive to Kawaguchiko. From Fujiyoshida you can reach Tokyo by train (2 hours). The hotel is a 10 minute walk from...
