My family of 5 stayed in the 3-bedroom penthouse last winter and again this season for 8 x nights. The apartment itself is clean, modern, spacious and the location is perfect with the sakka slopes a short walk away. Ski/equipment lockers are also ||conveniently located downstairs. The regular shuttle service is very efficient so access to other slopes is no drama. What makes this place is the level of service from the staff. Not once did we have to pay for a ||ride anywhere. The staff will go out of their way to juggle schedules for restaurant drop offs/pick ups/shopping runs etc. My son left his beanie at one of the restaurants and without hesitation, Santi (one of the ||drivers) drove all the way back to the retaurant and fetched it despite me telling him not to worry about it. Emma at reception is also lovely and couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great stay. I only have a few minor gripes/suggestions but nothing that would prevent me from staying here again. The Penke Bar was just below our bedroom window and the yahooing from the Aussie patrons could be heard til late (the Penke Bar is a good place for a meal by the way, they even have a gluten free/coeliac menu which was great for my daughter). I missed the Hinoki wood baths, they have been replaced with normal white tubs so maybe the instruction on the bath wall about the hinoki wood ought to be removed. I also found the beds to be a bit on the 'hard' side, especially when feeling sore from hitting the slopes. A re-fillable water jug to put in the fridge would be good too. As mentioned though, these cons would not stop me from staying here again or recommending this place to others. They are far outweighed by everything else about the place which can only be summed up as superb! Thank you Koharu for another wonderful stay! So sad to have...
Read moreMy family of 3 just returned from a great ski holiday in Hakuba! Despite the lack of snow, we had a great time because we chose to stay at the Koharu resort as recommended by Japan Ski Experience. |Koharu is situated in the lovely Wadano woods area and is literally just 3 mins’ walk to the Sakka Slope ski lifts which was one of the few slopes which were opened. Central Snowsports is also located in the same building which makes fitting out your ski equipment so convenient with free storage at Koharu itself. |We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was spacious and had all the basic amenities like washer/dryer, kitchen, toaster and kettle. You should not over pack as you can wash and dry your ski clothing easily in the apartment. The flooring of the whole apartment including the toilet is also heated which was wonderful.|Koharu is also easily accessible by many free shuttles if you have the ski lift pass and in addition, you can also make arrangements with the reception to use their free shuttle van to go to the supermarket, restaurants and even hot spring after a hard days’ work.|Most importantly, the international crew at the reception was very friendly and helpful and will assist you with your queries, help you make reservations and give you suggestions to restaurants, onsen, massage etc!|There is a small restaurant at the hotel which serves udon and tempura. The food was nice but overpriced!|The only negative to Koharu was the noisy bar called Rabbit Hole right across the street...it can get quite rowdy late into the night. Thankfully, we were too exhausted from all that skiing and were not bothered by it.|Overall it was a great choice and I would highly recommend families to...
Read moreCould not rate this accomodation higher. We had a fantastic stay at Koharu resort hotel and suites. Our studio room was clean, spacious and full of amenities required for self sufficient living on your stay. Under floor heating, room heating, in room air drying racks and individual ski lockers were a big positive. ALL of the staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and engaging, and have gone above and beyond to ensure we are a full bottle about Hakuba and all of the services the HHG (Hakuba Hotel Group) provide. This leads me to the HHG, a huge variety of yummy restaurants and beautiful accommodation around the Hakuba valley area with fantastic transport arrangements to the local shop and around hakuba for internal HHG guests. These transport facilities allowed for a stress free experience without having to worry about taxis or Ubers. Again, all the transport staff we had were fantastic, and we always felt safe driving in slippery and snowy conditions. Koharu’s location although just out of the main Happo area, is just a 2 minute walk to Sakka slope which was super convenient. Absolutely recommend staying at Koharu resort for your next stay, I know we...
