This was one of the few restaurants nearby to our hotel. We attempted to go one night but apparently all the tables were reserved fully for the night and there was zero capacity for walk-ins, not even at the bar for two people. Frankly that's a bit ridiculous considering there are so few food options in the area. I understand allowing people to make reservations, but keep something like 1/3 available for other folks. That night we walked up the road to the food truck and had an impeccable meal with no wait for less money.
When we did actually get a chance to score a table on different days, the time between placing our order and getting our food was at least 30 minutes each time, which is also pretty ridiculous for dinner bar food or egg based breakfast. The quality wasn't great either. If this place has more competition in the area they'd have to step up their game, but I get the sense they know they don't have to because they've got a somewhat captive audience.
Edit: I forgot to include that we tried to order the grilled cheese sandwich without blue cheese. That's a very love or hate cheese, and I'm in the latter group. Why can't the kitchen accommodate such a simple...
Read moreThe atmosphere and the staff there was so so amazing. I went there a week ago for breakfast before they closed for the 24-25 season. They had a shortened menu since they were closing in a week. I got to try their Breaky burrito, eggs on toast and added some bacon with it, and their BAE Sandwich. The BAE sandwich was very good and the muffin made it better. Eggs on toast were so good with the best bacon i have so far have ever had in the entire japan. And finally their award winning Burrito was so nice they had eggs and bacon inside it and the wrap was so soft & good it just melted. The best breakfast burrito we ever had and the guacamole was very good too. Overall their food and drinks were so good. When you go to Hakuba Happo it was like taking a short vacay inside japan getting the feels of Europe or Australia. I absolutely loved the breakfast there and felt very lucky to get to experience them before they closed for this season. Hopefully next time If i ever go to Hakuba I will definitely visit them again for their super delicious meals. I forgot to take pictures since we were so tired and had just arrived. Definitely a must visit when you are in Hakuba...
Read moreThe Rabbit Hole is an awesome bar and restaurant attached to the Hotel Villa, where we stayed for 5 nights.
The vibe there is incredible, with a really cool design inside, featuring old-school skis on the walls. They also have live music in the evenings, which adds to the atmosphere.
The young bar staff are super friendly and laid-back but still incredibly attentive—like Steve Smith fielding in the slips! The bar manager, Todd, was fantastic. One evening, we accidentally forgot to pay for our Baileys hot chocolate (which, by the way, was almost as good as the ones we had in Japan). Todd casually came up to me and said, “Ah, bud, you forgot to settle your bill.” I was a bit embarrassed, but he was so relaxed and understanding about it.
The food was also amazing! Special shout-out to the head chef, Mikey, who cooked up some incredible pork ribs and a delicious coconut pudding.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The only thing missing was a shot-ski—but hey,...
