MAISON CACAO Kamakura Komachi Main Store — Restaurant in Kamakura

So tasty. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Ordered the milk chocolate tart and the milk chocolate eclair. The choux dough was crisp but not too crunchy and there was a thin layer of chocolate in addition to the chocolate cream in the eclair. Very very good. The textures worked well together. The chocolate tart had a very smooth and rich chocolate taste without being overly sweet. The tart crust wasn't too thick and also had a nice crisp but not hard crunch to it. Would love to go back to try other items and flavors.

My only complaint is that it's a bit on the pricey side. But it is really really good.

Addendum: Went here again. I should edit my review to say that my comment on the price isn't a complaint, because the quality of chocolate really is outstanding and obviously worth it to me. I ended up buying a box of tarts to bring home, ordering the eclair again, and eating their new offerings.

The pudding was, not as much a favorite as the tart or the eclair. It was still really well flavored, and very smooth, but it's seriously all about the tarts.

Madison Cacao in Kamakura is a place I walked past many times but now a must try place for chocolate lovers! I have a wheat allergy, so the gluten-free cake made with rice flour was a delightful find. I bought it as a thank-you gift for friends, and they couldn't stop raving about it. The fact that it's gluten-free but still delicious impressed not only me but also my friends who aren't celiac. They even went back to the shop the next week to get more!

I returned two weeks later for a birthday cake, and once again, Madison Cacao exceeded expectations.

Not too sweet! Very nice chocolate tart. Limit to 2 tarts/person.

Happened to walk pass the shop and decided to give it a try, not knowing it's a well known brand. Had to wait 8 minutes for the next batch of chocolate tarts as the previous batch was sold out. The timings on when each batch of tarts will be ready are stated on a sign outside of the store. Queues started forming behind us at 14:00.

Definitely will return when I have the chance to visit Kamakura again...
