This is actually a house of multiple floors, converted to a guesthouse.
Room-wise, it was sufficient for a night stay. It was quiet the night I was there. The room had limited space for walking. The sofa seat should be removed. The charger was inconveniently located at a corner. I did not know how to use room heater. Bathrooms were on the first floor, while toilets were available at every floor. I did not have any problem using the shared toilets, although there were other guests. Free towel was available near the bathrooms.
There was a signboard that said the staff was not around. After dropping my backpack at the unguarded accommodation, where the front door was left unlocked, I returned to find someone sleeping on the sofa. The guy looked shock that I just open the door, without knocking. Honestly, I thought no one was around, as the signboard was still left on the door. There was a woman and a child there, totally ignoring me. I was told by the guy of my room and the rules of using the place. And then, I was left on my own.
The living room was a mess. So was the kitchen. Not sure how old was the water in the container for drinking.
It was nice that there were free umbrellas for us to use. There was a nearby convenient store and...

The showers are good and they offer a free to use laundry machine (dryer is 100 yen per 30 minutes). Great location as well, a short 2-3 minute walk to the beach, about 15 minutes to Kamakura Station.
Some things to consider: The walls are very thin, so you'll hear basically everything the other people are doing (and they will hear you). Depending on where your room is, there might be noise machinery going on outside. Not sure what it is, but it's running on and off throughout day and night, and I needed earplugs because of that. Toilets are very small and cramped. There's a pretty loud, high noise coming from the shower when using the hot water. I felt like that can't be good for my ears. The rooms with a double bed only have a very small desk and no chair, so it's not really suited for working.
If none of the above are deal-breakers for you, I can recommend this place. I will...
Read moreIn terms of value for money, this was the worst place we stayed at during our three week trip in Japan. This hostel asks too much for a room that's small, has an awful bed and shared facilities that are small and down all too small stairs.||||The bed in our room was utterly disgraceful since it didn't even have a decent mattress. Instead of one "vertical" mattress we got two small "horizontally oriented" mattresses ... with a metal wire at the edge of each mattress. This made for uneven lying and the hard edge of the mattresses pushing into our sides. The stand in staff offered an extra blanket but that didn't match any decent topping. Instead, we tried to make the bed more compfortable ourselves with towels and the like, but that took a lot of effort. We didn not sleep well at all here and felt ripped off. Find yourself a better place or at least inspect the bed before you decide on...
