Had the extreme thick tonkatsu and boy it was really thick Thick, moist, fatty, great clean umami pork flavor, enveloped in a thin crusted breading which is not oily but has great flavor. Can be eaten with a barbecue sauce or sweet sauce, but salt is definitely the way to fully maximize the pork flavor Cabbage was sliced thin evenly, clean refreshing naturally sweet taste and not bitter, refillable as well! Service was attentive, and polite.. Good decorated place well.. better check this place out if you're craving for tonkatsu! Worth of visit: 8/10

This place seems to specialize in thick pork cutlets, and they start at around 1/3 pound and go up from there. They offer a fattier cutlet at a higher price point -- we treated ourselves -- plus set meals that included other dishes like minced cutlet or jumbo shrimp. Solid amount of food for the price. I also loved the pickles; they had more bite than I'm used to so they really complimented the sweet sauce.

Still my all time favorite in Kanazawa. The size is good and you can freely refill vegs, rice or soup. The deep fried thick pork is very juicy but the outside is still very crispy. The miso soup is very tasty as it is not salty even with some shell fish. The rice is sticky as traditional japan rice. The deep fried oyster is fresh and both the pork and oyster are not oily.

I wouldn't go there as a westener, after being brought to our seat we were promptly ignored for ~40 minutes. We didn't notice at first because the staff seemed friendly, gave us a seat and tea, but after our order not being taken for a while, we tried to make eye contact with anyone and all three employees avoided us at all costs. They walked past us without looking and if you caught their eye from across the room, they quickly hurried away. After giving it 10 more minutes, we decided we weren't welcome and left without ordering.

A shame because the food looked great, but it was just not a confortable atmosphere to see everyone around us being tended to. We went to the trendy korean place on the same floor instead and that one had a very sweet waitress and a hundred times warmer and...
