草津館 — Hotel in Kusatsu

I have visited Japan for over 30 times and so far it is the best Ryokan/hotel I stayed.

It is run by a very nice married couple and it has been run by the same family as the 6th generation since the 1880s. They respect their Ryokan very well, which can be felt by the way they treat customers, provide the cuisine and how they maintain the building.

Their service is superb, warm and welcoming from the beginning of checking in and throughout my stay. They introduced their own source onsen (hotspring/spa) right from the bottom of the building to us. The onsen is very comfortable and my skin became smooth after taking bath inside the onsen.

I could park my car right outside the building, which is right at the heart of the whole Kusatsu Onsen area. You cannot find any better location than this Ryokan in Kusatsu. Access to everything is within 1 minute.

The Ryokan building itself is well maintained and recently renovated. The only drawback is the mediocre sound proof, which is understandable given its long history (the existing building was built ~60 years ago).

I really would like to stay again in this Ryokan soon. The only problem is that it only has 9 rooms so it is not easy to book again. The price is also unexceptionally acceptable (I paid 50,000 yen for one room occupying 4 persons...

One of the best ryokans we've stayed in. Perfectly located in the middle of it all, this Ryokan provided great value to its customers.

Firstly, the staff here, while they speak limited English, are super kinda and helpful.

The Japanese style dinner and breakfast were delicious; though they are not served in the room, but rather in the dining area.

湯畑前という好立地、宿のスタッフさんのホスピタリティ、美味しい料理に満足しました。ただ、多少難点も。

■風呂 内湯のみ。自家源泉の浴槽と館の目の前にある白旗源泉の浴槽2つです。露天風呂はありません。石と木からなる古風な浴室です。

■泉質 自家源泉についてはたぶん、チェックイン時にお湯が湧き出ている処を案内してくれると思います。

この源泉の泉質は、酸性・含硫黄−アルミニウム−硫酸塩・塩化物温泉...
