Nushiyū Ryokan — Hotel in Kusatsu

The water at this Onsen was just topnotch. This hotel is getting their water directly from the shirahata well. The water is slightly milky and very smooth. You can overlook the Kusatsu Onsen field from the outdoor bath. They also have two indoor baths. The hotel is run by a family and a bit worn down, but it is clean and tidy. The location is perfect, right on the main square. But this ryokan doesn’t ready for foreign travelers, even Signboard only in Japanese. Workers doesn’t speak English also. And there is no kayseki dinner. In the room you’ll have matcha tea and beautiful tableware, traditional clothes. Amazing onsen experience. the water seems totally unfiltered/straight from Kubatake so felt really unique versus other onsen. The outdoor bath also felt so hot and fresh as well.
